Jungle Rot's Dave Matrise explains why the band's upcoming new album is by far their best piece of work to date (followed by 'Kill on Command' and 'Order Shall Prevail'). He explains why they focus on "in your face grooving" and playing meat and potatoes death metal, while the genre has gone way more technical and admits he hopes the band can cash in when the old-school sound comes back to prominence. Admittedly, he says there already is some old-school revival death metal he loves, such as Skeletal Remains and Necrot, but as much as he loves the new stuff, one of his favourite parts of being in a band is befriending bands he's loved for ages and having them love his band. He tells the story of how he met Max Cavalera (Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulfly, Nailbomb, etc.) on 70,000 Tons of Metal and got him to do a guest vocal part on "Fight Where You Stand" before revealing there's a killer guest vocal part on the upcoming album, too. Interview conducted on April 4th at Coalition in Toronto.
