Just utterly adorable. Dave, THIS is precisely why you're great. My favorite part at the end, under the music we cannot hear, but see Manny say, I love you John, I love you Dave. Precious.

O man, O man just checked there's actually a Wikipedia page on Manny The Hippie. (Born Micha Papp in 1976) Word is he's still a minor celebrity in San Fran. Still busking with his harmonica.

I remember loving the segments with manny the hippie. This was a great era for Dave. I was young, I’d stay up and watch this on my tv. I don’t think I even had cable in my bedroom yet LOL. Different times

I remember when this original aired. If I recall correctly, a few San Fran police officers watched the show and they recognized Manny, and they remembered that he had some outstanding warrants

Since Alice-in-Chains played 'Again' that night, I must have been at this taping in San Francisco. I convinced a bunch of people at work to send in for tickets and my boss snagged a couple for me. The sound from the music was quite intense - you could just feel it in your chest. Supposedly Don Johnson was there that night as a guest, but I have zero recollection of that. But, yeah, Mannie also stood out.

I lived in SF when this happened. The kid was nice but a bit daft. Lol. He was on probation in Ohio and his only condition was not to leave the state. And then he goes on Letterman. They picked him about a month after this
