Amazing, the advances of medical science and PAE is one of them. A procedure much easier for the patient than other options. I had mine done on Oct 20th. BUT, as Paul Harvey used to say “and here’s the rest of the story”. I’ll start with PAIN - for a day and one half after the procedure you will feel pain. Similar to a metal shaft being shoved from your rectum to your bladder. It hurts but after that time period it starts to diminish. Actually mine took 4 days to go away. FREQUENCY - if you think you had to go pee a lot before the procedure, wait until after. Easily twice or three times as often. BURNING - oh yes, yes, yes. FEELING - along with the frequency goes the constant feeling that you have to deficate but you don’t. Day 7 - pain is less but still there, had to call doctor for additional meds. But given the horrendous recovery of other procedures, DEFINITELY worth doing. THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. GOD Bless.

I am also improving by cutting out dairy, one meal a day fasting and a healthy diet. Not yet back to full flow, but much improved. The diet also helps me with weight control and general well being. Another tip I have is to take cold showers or swims in the sea which I think helps with general inflammation. Good luck to all of you.

This procedure (prostatic artery embolization) is performed by a procedural radiologist. It consist in inserting a caterer in the iliac artery (right and/or left) and guiding this caterer all the way through to the prostatic artery (right and/or left). Once there, the caterer releases a number of micro spheres whose mission is to cause an embolism on a part of the prostate, causing thereby the excess prostatic tissue in the transitional zone of the prostate to die for lack of blood. This is done on the left side and on the right side, or maybe on only one side at the discretion of the procedural radiologist. The results are mixed. Improvement is felt soon after the procedure and may last a couple of months or more. I think it is advisable to read upon, ask other patients who had this procedure done and really make sure that this is the right thing for you. It is definitely not a cure for all.

Why do it if it only last on the order of months? Is that right?
@msotil
@msotil 2 жыл бұрын
@@justgivemethetruth I've known cases where it only lasted two or three months before the symptoms returned as before. That is why I suggest do your own research asking men who have undergone the procedure. I also suggest to look into the Rezum procedure as probably a much better alternative.
@justgivemethetruth
@justgivemethetruth 2 жыл бұрын
@@msotil I was reading about Rezum and it is so new that there is not data about how long it lasts, nor is there any indication of how many treatments it takes to be effective and whether the cost they talk about is the cost to cure it or the cost for one treatment which may or may not work. I thought there were other methods than releasing microsphere into the body to clog up arteries. Putting foreign bodies into the body always seems to be problem in the long run, and especially tiny ones that are unaccounted for. I thought I read about other methods like stitching arteries closed or cauterizing them? Finding out about all this has suddenly become a priority, and I am not sure we really get the truth from YT videos. It's all about selling.
@msotil
@msotil 2 жыл бұрын
@@justgivemethetruth Rezum takes 5 minutes. It was developed in 2013. I had it done two years ago and still going fine. It is so quick and simple that it should be an inexpensive procedure, which is why it may not be so attractive to urologists. Previously I tried embolization; it lasted two months.
@justgivemethetruth
@justgivemethetruth 2 жыл бұрын
@@msotil YIKES .... 2 months? What I saw online for cost of Rezum was like $2500 ... and I have no idea if insurance will pay for that. Their standard is the TURP I think it is, but I've seen the videos on that and it just scrapes away your whole insides and seems like it does permanent damage to your urination and ejaculation. Again, I don't know and I don't know what to trust on the Internet because now almost all of it is BS. Seems like anything they do, or qualifies even as a thing should last longer than 2 months.

This sounds familiar ... AND HORRIBLE. The PAE is a local anesthesia operation where you are awake and they threat a catheter into your leg veins and up and around and cut off arteries to your prostate and it dies back. I was reading about that .. and it sound scary, but you look find so I guess it works. Does it kill your prostate function? How are other things. I am just going through this and learning about it ... and it is all a huge shock. Never had so much pain in my life as that Foley Catheter.

@@charlesnutting9036 I read that statistically a catheter inserted for 3 weeks has a 90% chance of a serious UTI, Urinary Tract Infection. Also, the catheter itself can affect your sexual function, if you care about that.

Caution!! I had a PAE procedure done at Alate Health in Houston by Dr. Doe in 2021. It was a complete FAIL! No improvement to date (8/19/22) All I got out of that procedure was a lot of discomfort and an ambulance ride to the hospital with a blood clot in my very swollen leg! Spent 2 days in the hospital. Another Radiologist fixed the blood clot. He also told me that blood clots after that procedure are not uncommon!
