Had PAE done jan 17 23 and within 2 months it worked Mar 14 23 i had urinary retention and a catheter for 3 months I had to pay out pocket 12000 since My prominence medicare insurance decided not to cover it even though it's medicare approved i am appealing. PAE it works great

I HAVE ENDURED most of the BPH issues. I Had 3 biopsies, 2 T3 MRIs with no benefit. It got worse and worse with a catheter use, both manual or attached with constant infections. Finally I gave in for a TURP or the surgery where they go into your prostate down your urethra and literally cut the extra size away and open up the bladder to drain. The procedure is not THAT bad and is less painful than other commenters say the PAE has. I have had 2 heart catheterizations with out any of the pain described about PAE. The bottom line is the TURP did open the flow, but did NOTHING to the other symptoms, like frequency, urgency, or night time issues. My prostate is rather large so the PAE likely needed doing first, so you need to push for a PAE if you are also larger. I can empty about half of my bladder but am constantly going, going and going. The medications they will want to shrink your prostate are a very big gamble. One triples the chance of you getting dementia, the other means you will have a 70 percent greater chance of getting a worse kind of cancer. PAE IS THE BETTER STARTING POINT OR AT LEAST A Rezume If you are under 60 or even younger. The TURP did uncover a much worser kind of cancer just as promised if you take the medicines they will want you to take to shrink the prostate.

Amazing, the advances of medical science and PAE is one of them. A procedure much easier for the patient than other options. I had mine done on Oct 20th. BUT, as Paul Harvey used to say “and here’s the rest of the story”. I’ll start with PAIN - for a day and one half after the procedure you will feel pain. Similar to a metal shaft being shoved from your rectum to your bladder. It hurts but after that time period it starts to diminish. Actually mine took 4 days to go away. FREQUENCY - if you think you had to go pee a lot before the procedure, wait until after. Easily twice or three times as often. BURNING - oh yes, yes, yes. FEELING - along with the frequency goes the constant feeling that you have to deficate but you don’t. Day 7 - pain is less but still there, had to call doctor for additional meds. But given the horrendous recovery of other procedures, DEFINITELY worth doing. THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. GOD Bless.

So what becomes of the dead tissue now dwelling at the entire circumference of the eurethra.

Since this procedure stops blood flow to the prostate, what happens with all that dead tissue, necrosis kind of thing?

I had my PAE on 14 October 2021. You will need to be driven home! It took two days for the sedation medicine to completely leave my body. I already see results within several days especially during the day. I am getting up less and less each night. I looked for years for something not hard in the body (laser, rezum are heat (swelling), aquablation does not hit entire prostate, urolift, from my research fail). I am scared to death of needles but happy had it done. Within 45 minutes of pae completion I was wheelchaired down to friend waiting for me.,,

You drove and drove yourself home?!?! I’m having it on June second. My urologist really pushed Rezume. Read too many horror stories about it. Glad I did the research.

Days 8, 9 and 10 post procedure were misery for me.

I tried a prostate artery embolization "PAE" nine weeks ago with zero results,. Prostate was at 120. Will be doing the Aquablation June 13th.

Is PAE is also suggested for Patient with Ca Prostate with Gleason 8? Can anybody answer

Why not say where you got the procedure done? Not many places in the US do it, and I understand that it is a procedure very dependent on doctor skill.

i have done this procedure and i am very much ok before for peeing i take too much time now its very easy sexuel life also very good no side effect nothing only i want to ask one question are taking any medicine after this procedure why i am asking i am taking Veltam F tablet every night is it need to go for this tablet pls help me in this.

Now, in 2024 there are other procedures like holep, greenlight lazer, and resumz. Do your research and look into these other options. I'm getting holep in a other two weeks. HoLEP is a one and done procedure. With a skilled doctor there are little to no side effects.

I asked my urologist about PAE and he said ..."its not a good procedure...". At the time, I did not understand that PAE is not a procedure done by Urologists, but rather by an Interventional Radiologist. This makes it difficult for patients to understand the treatment options for BPH, and whom to trust on the recommended procedure. Why is it this way?

He did not mention UROLIFT or REZUM. I would like to see a true comparison of these 3 options. PAE vs REZUM vs UROLIFT. These are the 3 relatively newer quality options available for Men.

I'm 51 with a 40cc prostate and very minor symptoms (dribbling a few drops after each urination). Is it too early to get a PAE or perhaps an alternative like iTIDS or Rezum ? I GP recommended that I should wait. Will an early PAE prevent any further intervention? Thanks

This sounds wonderful, but I watched a walk through by a guy from Pennysylvania and he said and the images showed the variability of arteries in that area between people and even between both sides of the prostate. He said amusing things like no not that one that goes to the penis or to the anus. Sadly on a another site it gave stats and the high percentage of ischemic anuses as side effects. It is my impression that it is really hard for them to tell what they are doing. Plus, my doctor said that it is a awfully large amount of radiation to the prostate to do the real time scanning. I have become skeptical. Oh, and how is it that only surgeons are greedy and radiologists not? I don't get that.

I am actually a believer in natural treatment. My father suffered from BPH and had several surgeries unfortunately, no cure. It was all expensive procedures which exposed his health to risk at 68 years of age. Read reply to know how he found help….
