The way DAC could belt like that is ridiculous. He could hit really amazing notes that no other humans could dream of. When he mentions his own last name in "you never even called" is insane. Nobody could ever again sing that song better. Wouldn't surprise me if he actually won every fight he ever fought. Love this dude

I saw DAC for the first time at Stoned Pony in Stone Mountain in 1979 and I will never forget the show. The music never stopped, he was truly an amazing entertainer. Saw him again in Athens in 1983 and he didn't disappoint. He was the best show to go see for several more years. The last time I saw him was in 1997 and even though his show wasn't what it was back in the 70s it was still one hell of a show. I don't understand why prison time would've held him back, there were other guys that went to prison back in the day and it didn't hurt their careers. He deserved more than he was ever shown. DAC you were and always will be top on my list of entertainers...

What years or time period we talkin. In his true hey day? Cause that woulda been a monumental blast. What would this be. Mid to late 80’s? If it was it would make for a crazy experience. Or even earlier. Then you’re talking epic and historic. Say the late 70’s. Just being around music as a whole during the 70’s would be epic. So much history. Woulda been cool to be any part of it.

I dig this live version more than the studio version. It is a tad faster live and 0:21 his voice is more "toasted", which gives it an overall richer sound imo. The true quality of a musician will be heard, when he plays live. Sadly many musicians are rather studio musicians. SRV was a terrific live musician!

Unfortunately this legend isn't called a legend like the Hag the opossum and the others. David is definitely an important part of country music. Unfortunately he's not noted for being a extremely part of country music history especially the beginning. Please help the younger generation remember how important David Allen Coe was to the REAL COUNTRY MUSIC HISTORY. Thanks and just remember. You don't have to call me darling..darling. You never even call me by my name. Just saying imagine a world were no David was playing or think of a bar room with no David playing. If you've been in a bar room with no David singing then you should have left cause the bar room is crazy.
