totally fukkin inspirational! I'm 50, quit my job last year to just focus on me and my art. Ive got my first solo show in 4 years in a few weeks and am trying to run my house as a gallery space for new and emerging artists in the future! Grew up with comics in 70s-90s, helped me survive my abusive father and much other family dysfunction, I wouldn't be alive today without them. I totally get what and where he's talking about! respect David Choe and always Ed 'n' Jim

A couple years ago, Mangchi came thru Vancouver and it was probably one of the best live shows I've ever been to. Free merch, insane props and music. At the end of the show, I stuck around to give David my comics. He stuck his head out of the tour bus, signed my copy of his art book and thanked me for the comics. I smoked a joint w some of the band members after that and Dave stuck his head out of the tour bus again and shouted at me to come over. He pointed out all his favourite parts of my comic, what was working and what I could work on more. He really gave me a thoughtful critique and told me I had to continue making comics! Even thinking about that night gives me the warm fuzzy feeling. Really enjoyed listening to him talk comics for almost 3 hours!

It's crazy to have been a big DVDASA fan back in the day, then to get into Cartoonist Kayfabe and out of nowhere to see David pop up, crazy still for him to then start talking about Simon Hanselmann who I was just getting into for their daily Crisis Zone strip. It was like worlds colliding. This interview was so good nearly a year later I'm still coming back to listen to this while I draw. Thanks again for this gem.

This interview came at the right time. I’ve never felt lower in my life than I have recently and have been thinking of giving up Imposter syndrome is a real thing and never feeling satisfied is soul crushing as a creative person and it’s comforting to hear you aren’t the only one going through the same ordeal. It’s nice to hear that you can push through your mental adversity and the voice that’s always putting you down to keep reaching for the brass ring.

This is so funny. I don't remember talking about porn illustration with him, but I did do a tiny little bit of illustration for some small local magazines around then so it could be. Never for Hustler or the big boys. I've never been a good hustler. I wonder if he's conflating porn knowledge with me because I was doing the All About Fuckin' mini comic back then. My memory of when we met at APE was I said Hey David Choe I love Slow Jams I totally ripped you off for my comics about being in a circus, and David said I love those Circus comics, I ripped you off for my latest comic in Non 5! I think it was a schematic cutaway image of a warehouse space I lived in and he did a similar thing for his Non comic. Would love to see a collection of David's old comics, and new comics would be great, too. Anyway, still working my way through this, Choe's interviews are always entertaining and inspiring, great job, guys--
