@Chris Ga I agree with all of what you wrote. His arrogance is just stunning. I know he loves Celine Dion dearly, but he should lick his own wounds (ie the "Tell Him" song having no potential to be released as a single, although it is incredibly beautiful) rather than bash, and I mean BASH, the living lights out of another great song, produced by other great producers. I agree with him that Celine did not sound like Celine in "My Heart Will Go On", but that's okay. It's okay for singers to sound different every now and then. What he said about Whitney Houston was revealing, so I appreciate his honesty in that case.

IWALY sold 22 million copies, it has more than 1.1 billion views on KZfaq (around 2 billion if you count all the unofficial ones) and more than 400 million on Spotify. It was number one for 14 weeks on Billbiard and the only song by a Diva to be number one in the US, Canada, and the UK at the same time, plus many other countries around the world. IWALY sold the movie. Titanic sold MHWGO.

(Wikipedia) Secondly, collectively MHWGO KZfaq videos are well above 1 billion. It is lack of celine team, that they never uploaded the official video. (You can check combined views on KZfaq analytics page) Just a simple search will show, there are movie fan accounts with official video which is above 100m each, + celine live performances on her channel also 100m above views. (Her team is nil active, hardly uploads anything) terms of impact and its reach, titanic had massive reach globally, then bodyguard. Titanic is still at 3rd highest grossing movie with $2,201,647,264 grossing. Everyone who loves movie, tend to love its music too.

IWALY official video has more than 1.1 billion plus another billion on unofficial videos, lyric videos and live performances. The amount of Whitney's version covers must be around another billion. The song impact on talents shows alone destroys MHWGO.

It was Kevin Costner that wanted Whitney to act in the movie, but David got “I Will Always Love You”, at least according to Dolly Pardon.

I heard that Kevin suggested that Whitney sing acapella in the beginning of the song.

My point was David, in this interview, claims to have suggested that I Will Always Love You be used as the theme song for the movie, when in fact, it was Kevin who originally suggested it to Whitney and reached out to Dolly Parton...Soon after, David was hired to produce it. I fully agree, a big, kitschy, schmaltzy, cheesy ballad. I also don't like how she aspirates at the beginning of the song. Celine is the best female pop singer ever but that song is definitely her worst. And one of the comments here is true, it completely overshadowed her career and other music. Everyone knows MHWGO but relatively few people know All By Myself, I Surrender, To Love You More or Think Twice, waaay better vocal performances and better songs. Celine may have scored big commercially but artistically she ruined herself with that song. If she hadn't recorded it, music critics wouldn't hate her so much. Such a pity.
