Whitney had an ability to hug your soul when she sang a song, live or recorded. I truly cannot think of another singer who could do that. Well, for me, Madonna has that ability but not with a powerhouse vocal. Madonna's approach, obviously, is completely different, but when she sings a ballad, it is such an emotive experience, it's unforgettable. Whitney makes it unforgettable because you feel like you've been through an emotional wringer, in a very, very good way. Celine just might be one notch below Whitney in that respect. Mariah just does not do that to me. Not Lady Gaga. Not Beyonce. Not even Aretha.

It kinda depends what you want from a singer. Both of them are really good. Imo Celine is more technically skilled as a singer. Whitney has more soul. Both are interpretive geniuses and bring a song to life. There's no winner here. It's a preference. For me, it's Celine all the way.
