The lyrical genius and hauntingly beautiful voice of David's is a national treasure. By now 12 hours before 2022 I've watched this video at least 100 times. David's music never gets old. It just gets better with age. Like a fine wine.

David went out with me for a month or so. 39 years ago I was 16 and he was 17. I have only just realised who he is now. He did not talk much. He seemed "different". I made him smile. The way he looked at me will never leave me. I was sad when I realised he was not coming to see me any more. I am watching this video to try to bring it all together. The Dave I knew in 1985, the White Ladder David Gray, and the legend he has become. He did not talk much. I did not have much of a voice either, when I was 16. 1985- I was sad when I realised he was not coming to see me any more. 2024- I am heartbroken.

If you don't recognize David Gray's exceptional talent then you simply don't understand what a good song is, which is why all are touched by his beautiful music and annoyed by your noise.

Even though I have a sampler from caroline records dating back to 1993 with him on it. He has always been great & just gets better & better with time. No fading away with David gray......

Most people I talk to about David Gray say that his earlier stuff was much better. His new material is heavily over produced and lacks the "rawness" of earlier songs. It's true that he is able to get away with dodgy lyrics due to his clever interpretation

It's true that David Gray has written some dodgy lyrics, especially in the past. That's because he concentrates too much on the aesthetic rather than that sincerity that an audience can relate too. Having said that his voice is great and he's capable of great songwriting when he gets it right. I personally think that this type of music would work better with a "live feeling" rather than a heavily over produced sound
