If my camera work didn't ruin it for you, and you appreciated me uploading it, contribute (if you can spare) a buck or two. I make no money from views, all add revenue goes to the acts. I wonder who does get the money though. The artist or the record companies? The artist owns the 'author' rights and typically the record company owns the 'mechanical recording' rights. But they didn't record it... I did.

paypal.me/Willi... It may interest you that donations of $20 or more gain access a link for the fully uncompressed version, typically 13 GB/hr or $10 gets you a 2 GB/hr version, (KZfaq versions are crunched 10:1 or about 250 Mb/hr) Some are reformatted to 16X9 like the version posted here. All donations are provided with a link to a comprehensive spreadsheet itemizing extensive details of the William G channel videos.
*This show has been reformatted into 16X9 from the original 4X3 aspect ratio. Some head cropping may occur.
It may incorporate digital stabilization and some slight edits.
Shows prior to May '88 were shot on VHS-C so there may be gaps for tape changes approximately every 20 mins.
Life is short, don't spend too much of it watching other peoples videos. Make your own.

This is why the 80s were the best for shows! You can keep your giant screens and pyro, I just want to see really great musicians and the best frontman ever doing their thing. I was fortunate enough to see this show and Eat em & Smile at Nassau Colloseum, and they were the best shows I ever saw. So over the top it was just insane.

I went to a lot of huge shows in the late 70s and all of the 80s, and believe me, they had their share of pyro and over the top stage props back then, too. They didn't have the big screen then, but they did most everything else.

The fact that Dave closed out with Jump really shows how much class and love for us fans he has. Reading Ted's excellent autobiography and other VH history stuff, most of us VH fans knew Dave wasn't really on board with the keyboard direction off the start. But the fact that he took hold of the song, got an amazing line up, and they closed an awesome set with it really says a lot of great things about the Diamond Dave we all love. He could have closed with Yankee Rose, a number of things that were his. Instead he and the amazing band delivered one heck of a performance on a song he came full circle on. No matter how you slice it, ya gotta love the man. There are just some people that there will always only be one of, that no one can touch. Elvis, Billy Idol, Diamond Dave. They will always live as icons in rock history. And deserve to.
@kwmproperty7379
@kwmproperty7379 Жыл бұрын
He left Van Halen because Jump was the final nail in the coffin. The fact that he closed his show with a song he hated, really says a lot about the fact that he didn’t have anything on his own, and he was trying to hold on to his Van Halen coattails. The rest of his career after VH speaks for itself….

Trying to figure out the logic here. 1. We're on a DLR page. 2. It's a pretty darn good concert. 3. Dave had quite a few albums that most metalheads, mtv, the 80s & 90s rock scene, and a lot of VH fans thought were pretty good. Oh, and sold pretty well. Followed by really successful tours, with more albums with more amazing musicians. Which brings us back to number 1. We're on a DLR page. Oh, yeah. 4. Why did you click on this to get here? 5. Why did you choose to comment? 6. Are you trying to start a I hate Dave so I'm going to post circular logic posts club? and probably most importantly, 7. You obviously didn't read of the VH biography, history, Crazy From The Heat, Ted T autob. books. But thanks for playing. Most of us VH fans are pretty chill, so we'll still let you hang. As long as you don't keep saying dumb$!##. Then, well, you're on your own skippy. Get on the bus Waldo! @@kwmproperty7379

Impressive show. This is not only DLR at his prime but a moment in music when everything was all over the top. Record companies imvested a lot of money on Tours & promotion and the genre was untouchable until '89. Vai destroys some of Eddie's solos and even some of him but who cares. He was a perfect match for DLR musically & during his performances live. I can't imagine who could have filled that shoes if it hadn't been him.

I remember how disappointed I was that Billy quit the band, but after I heard the album I understood, it was a disappointment. To go from Eat em and Smile to Skyscraper was just too much for me. The songs on Skyscraper were overproduced and just too synth pop. Of course the musicianship was incredible, it just wasn’t for me. Eat ‘em and Smile was raw and went straight for the jugular. Even Dave tried to go back to the heavier style after this with Jason Becker after Vai bailed, but by then the music world was kind of done with Dave. Which was too bad, I really liked that album a lot, but then tragedy struck Jason which still breaks my heart. This show and era was pretty much Dave at the height of his musical abilities and sadly his solo career success. I wish he could’ve maneuvered his way back into VH at this point, but it wasn’t to be. I don’t mean to crap all over this show because frankly no one could put on a better show than Dave, I just wasn’t crazy about the musical change from Eat em and Smile to this and the loss of Billy. But a big thanks to whoever put this up because it brings back great memories of my late 20’s…man has time flown by…

Tip of the cap to Steve Via, he had some pretty big shoes to fill and he pulled it off with style and class. 🤘

I saw this concert when he came to Spokane Washington and it was awesome!!! No cell phones, just thousands of people rocking out to one of the greatest frontman and his band! Also, Steve looks a bit like Chris DeGarmo of Queensryche, when wearing the trench coat, lol.

Glam rock was such candy then! Gluttons for punishment? Almost certainly! However, I loved every minute of it, esp. when it was done LA style...southern California!

Still haven't forgiven my Mum for not letting me go to the Sydney show. I was 13 and seriously crapped in cotton wool. My BF at the time did get a tour tshirt...which I still have!! What a combo; DLR & VAI. He sure knows talent. Later to team with Jason Becker & John 5...after having Edward as your guitarist, sets the bar very high indeed.

Dave had incredible energy. The first gig I ever saw. Just went to Uni in late 88, saw this at Birmingham NEC in England in late fall. Not a bad first gig! Crows went bonkers when Jump started at the end

Was there ever a professionally shot video of this tour? My first ever concert was the Sydney show and this just took me right back. They didn't bring out the suspended surfboard, he just got carried on the surfboard by 4 big burly blokes, down the middle of the crowd on the floor.

So cool to see this!!! I saw DLR at Hammersmith Odeon 31 August 1988 (and at Donnington too). Hammersmith was a great gig and by today's standards such an intimate venue. Matt Bissonette on bass was really brilliant to those of us lucky enough to be front row, and was handing us loads of guitar picks. Vai was a little more stand offish!! He arrived in a limo out front of the venue and got mobbed!
