What a lot of people don’t know is that depression sometimes is silent, it’s usually people who give great vibes and the ability to make people feel good and laugh that are the ones hurting and feeling alone inside.

Before Tyler Perry, if anybody knows growing up going to church, Tamela Mann was with Kirk Franklin & The Family along with David. Now look at them. I listen to the Kirk Franklin CDs in the 90s and Tamelas vocals stand out. I commend David for acknowledging his depression. And he’s right, there is a stigma in the black community about therapy. I grew up in a house like that, and had to break the cycle. Good for him

On the isle of man when a man is alone face to face with every part of himself. When he Ceases seeing himself thru the lenses of other's eyes and instead through his own. When he resigns himself to defining himself by the prejudices or biases of others, regardless of their populists I'll concieved predilection. When he understands that the pursuit of his person is not nor should be the pursuit of sex, revelry, drunkenness, adrenaline, power or money but rather purpose mission and a noble passion. When this man understands this, then this man becomes "The Man". For only through the Eyes of his Creator, Lord, God,Father and King can this man fully embrace and do what he was created and designed for. -Steven F Gooden-Cohen-

Depression is so hard to deal with, its so tiring, it's like carrying a bag of bricks with you everywhere you go! It makes you think negatively, it makes it hard to do everything! even something as simple as washing dishes or going outside. Depression manifests when there's a core issue not being addressed, that's why therapy is so helpful so you can work out why you feel the way you do and then take action to remedy it!

“ depression manifest when there was a core issue not being addressed” 💯 the real estate statement I’ve ever heard of my life…. But when the person that’s making you depressed won’t even allow you to speak about it to even hear you out so that you can move forward and leave the depression where it is then it sticks! Why don’t people understand that sometimes all they have to do is listen that can help a person have a breakthrough and heal! I can’t wait till the day I can finally have peace and happiness and no longer be depressed I don’t even know what it feels like anymore to live without depression!! my baby‘s father has been so verbally abusive to me the past few years ever since we’ve had a child together but prior to that for so many years he was loving caring and a protector the child with me was what he wanted since then he’s done nothing but tear me down in every way possible I haven’t heard a kind word in years and I’m so broken behind it

isn't just what you do but what you don't do. Not just what you did but how you did it. Not just what you said but how you said it. Love is so simple yet the simple make it so hard. Love Is full of knowledge yet even the smart don't get it. Love doesn't cost a fortune yet fortunes are spent trying to gain it. Love does demand of you yet you are not willing to sacrifice for it. Those who only seek what love can give and do for them, do nothing for love and others and in such selfish pursuit, in turn rob themselves of love's best gift. Make this year the year you seek to sow love and not just reap it. Be love and not just think it. Do love and not just say it. Talk love and just don't fake it. Seek love and just don't chase it. Embrace it but don't enslave it, share it but don't dare boast in it. Enjoy it but don't abuse it. Free it and watch it come back. Invest in it and watch it pay back. We as a Black community need to have honest conversations about mental health. A lot of the bad choices we make are because of internalized issues we don’t feel we have the bandwidth to tackle. We overeat, we drink, sometimes we do illicit drugs or get involved in counterproductive relationships because we don’t want to face the internal issues in ourselves. I’m here to tell you IT IS OKAY. We don’t have to keep it all on and put on the brave face and just March March on. Thank you David for sharing your story.

I seriously know this feeling. I'm naturally a witty, bubbly person, but sometimes you're hiding a lot underneath. I've had depression for years and at times it felt as though I was constantly drowning. It was intermittent. I had good days and then suddenly slump into a deep, dark place. I'm a Gospel Singer, so often times singing is what got me through along side the grace of God. People definitely need to talk more openly about it, so that people know they're not alone. I pray for all those struggling with depression. Only you know how it feels when you go through it. I love David and Tamela as a couple. They're so relatable and likeable.

To not love deeply is to not love at all. I cannot love on part nor in half. I cannot love holding back or hidden. Only openly, honestly, sincerely and devotedly or else it isn't love. For love is without selfishness but rather selfless. It does not seek gain but gives. It doesn't take but sacrifices freely of its own for the good of that which it loves. It is too deep to measure, too high to ascend and so wide that you can never truly comprehend it or embrace it. It's least expression is greater than all the gold you could amass. Should you ever meet it or even glimpse it, find yourself in its presence or to have been the object of its affection, know then that you have lived more than a lifetime to have found it, for some have never crossed it's path or ever felt it's touch. Some were blind to see it although it was along side them. Others were deaf to hear it for they drowned it's soft whisper in the noise of the crowd. Still many ignored it though it called to them and beckoned them to come. Rejecting it's invitation and in so doing chose to wander alone, restless on a bed or sadness, leaving love Abandoned, without a heart to make its home. Be grateful, for you have and now are forever changed, forever Loved!❤ - Steven f Gooden-Cohen-

Friends For Thought Inspiration comes of people past and present, How would I or could I have, save Twas not for those who are as myself. Fleeting thoughts upon the eternal circle of life. That rise for the morning and are laid to rest for eternity’s morrow. Indeed, these temporal creatures be it known as mankind are an essential necessity to the credit of my works. I duly welcome whatever inviting or intrusive fellows, not preferring the latter, however. That I, in all, am to be complete in task and duty, plan and purpose for what only God ordained objectives do order the course of things. May these who are to me unknown along this question filled puzzling journey be all the more as the invited ones I’ve met, and yet, let wisdom dictate that which I distaste for higher reasons I submit. Let this be my resolve; a chant of gratitude. For many an inspiring fellow, none so admired have I as you. A picture of him who indeed masterminds my acquaintances and assigns me my purposeful existence. --Steven Fitzgerald Gooden

I'm 61, been dealing with it since I was very young. Mental Health is a big issue but the bigger issue is our insurance doesn't cover most of it.i was a fixer and a person that wanted people to be happy. I was a nurse, worked 2 full time jobs, had a nervous breakdown then a bad divorce then brain surgery and stroke. So I can't work now. I look to God to help me through. I want to do music, I’m 26 and I wanted another baby but it just feels like I’m running out of time, I thought I would be a big star by now and it messes my head up BAD. I expect too much from people who don’t really have my best interest and that’s also 1 of my biggest issues.

@@deliciaperry4684 Please don't be so hard on yourself, see a therapist if you need to, you don't have to figure it all out at once, if you have support from family of friends you'll get through this..I have neither, I'm hanging on by Gods Grace and Mercy and seeing a therapist. Hang in there 🙏🏽💓🙏🏽

This is deep. I've dealt with depression in 1999-2007, 2010, 2014, and 2021. I spoke with a therapist in 2007 for the first time. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH TALKING TO A THERAPIST!!! In 2014 and 2021 it was more sadness from missing my parents. They were beautiful people with pure hearts. To this day there are no words to express how much I miss them.

We're all human, and honestly I don't see how any entertainer make it mentally with all the moving pieces in their career, and lives going here and there, leaving their family to go do project's for months, keeping marriages together even their own personal lives, and keeping their faith intact with the LORD for those who know Him my goodness that's a tall order. Wishing David Mann all the best, stay close to God He's also working through mental health providers for those who know Him. I applaud David Mann for being courageous enough to speak his truth. Tamela Mann is an amazing woman for sticking by him and wholeheartedly supporting him. They are an excellent example of what supporting your partner should look like. Mental health issues are REAL. If you aren’t strong enough SOME church people will inadvertently cause you to abort God’s true plan for your life and exit this world by your own hands. I experienced that after the death of my youngest son. I was emotionally overwhelmed and didn’t seek the counseling that I needed because I was encouraged to “pray and give it to God. I held on to needing to be here for my oldest son and pulled through it, depression seriously almost took me out of here.

Y’all are so adorable. 🥰 Yes sir!! Mental health is nothing to play with. So glad you got the help you needed and are doing better. 3 out of 4, including me, in my household are struggling with depression right now. This has been the hardest time in my life. My husband got lost in grief. My son is learning how to live with social anxiety and depression, and I literally fell out 4 times before I admitted to myself that I am not ok. I am the one who makes sure everyone is good. But I have to remember that I have to take care of me first and when I can’t…Jesus take the wheel! Blessings to all you.

I was in the same space one day in life when to see my parish Priest for confession and help, he gives me the best advice "please go and sick a Therapist I think you really need one" I was so surprisely happy and I think he safe my life that day. I appreciate him for telling his story. I'm currently going through this right now. Unfortunately the help isn't available without a price tag and the people who you think would be there all of a sudden becomes to busy to listen. Plus I'm a man so we aren't "suppose" to be down or in a rough spot we're just told man up and shake it off. I pray and pray and pray but I just can't seem to move my feet. I really hope I shake back and become me again especially for my kids. Also I want to let any else going through this to remain strong because this to shall pass
