My absolute favorite performance of this song! I’ve been looking for it for a couple of years. It was on KZfaq many years ago, but then disappeared. I’ve seen him perform it exactly like this in 2011 and it was perfection. Thanks for your fantastic reaction!

I am so happy that David kept it slow. Mark and David are the only ones to sing it as a conversation. Most singers sing it too quickly. That ruins it. It was written to be a hear felt conversation. I still like Mark’s rendition with David and Guy Penrod. There is also a beautiful rendition with Mark and Voctave. Mark and David both can hold those notes so well.

Love this version and it is amazing. I also love Mark Singing it and it is also one of my favourite hymns along with O holy night and O little town of Bethlehem Davies tune to it with the For unto us in the city of David Luke 2 verse 11

Mark Lowry wrote the lyrics to Mary Did You Know in 1984 The music written by Buddy Greene in 1991. They were both singing in the Gaiter Vocal Band at the time.

What a brilliant analogy Lyle, an angel whispering the good news in Mary’s ear. As we know from the vocal series you reacted to, David said his job is to communicate a message or story and make his listeners feel something. Well… I believe he ticked those boxes and more.

Beautiful! David sang it more like Mark Lowry intended it to be, a conversation with Mary over coffee, as Mark says. It's a little late to ask for this year, but would you consider reacting to David singing a stripped down version of O Holy Night with guitar only? Lyle, I was in The Barn for this Concert, the very 1st Concert in The Barn. There was hardly a dry eye when DP finished singing!!! This is one special version. I love you liking it to an Angel talking to Mary!!! I saw him last Thursday in a Christmas Concert, he did this with just his guitar player again & it was just as Beautiful!!! I was crying when he finished, of course!!!

This is an example of how to stuff up a great song! Written by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene the original version is by Michael English but still the best version easily is by Mark himself. I do not understand why Mr. Phelps has to use so much vibrato? It does not suit the song.
