Well, well what a way to wind down an early Saturday! One of my all time favorite Christmas songs, love it. Be careful on the roads today, the crazies are definitely out! And boy are they filled with holiday road rage, ugh. All have a safe and joyful weekend and please remember our homeless, veterans and elderly, there are many lonely and hurting out there that a small gesture would mean alot to, thank you as always

I heard Mark in an interview after this was recorded, say that he never realized his song could sound so beautiful. He has MS now and that’s why he was seated during the song, but that super long note that he held in the middle of the song (where you paused it) shows how strong of a singer he still is. Welcome to the Voctave rabbit hole that you’ve fallen down. They almost can’t be called an A Capella group, they are more like a vocal orchestra. Check out their Nutcracker Medley (all vocals, no words) and their Great Movie Medley (an homage to John Williams) where you can hear the way their vocal orchestration plays out. They have a lot of Christmas songs, but I warn you grab some tissues before you watch “Where Are You Christmas?” Because it makes grown men cry. They also sing a lot of Disney songs, appropriate being that most still work at Walt Disney World in Orlando, singing with the Voices of Liberty in the American pavilion preshow, at EPCOT. Hard to believe this is a part time gig for these people. They also sing Americana and Broadway songs. Honestly tho, just look over their song selection. Nothing is second rate. They are all polished professionals with incredible vocal training. Any one of them could easily have a solo career but they all love to sing a cappella and do so like no one else. I like PTX, Home Free & Voice Play, but they don’t hold a candle to the wall of sound you get from Voctave. But that is what you get with 11 talented members. Btw, Jamey Ray, all the way on the left, arranges all their songs. He’s also a music professor at Rollins College on the north side of Orlando. Welcome to Voctave. They are an amazing vocal group from Florida. Check out their Disney Princess Melody, Hero’s and Villians, Great Movie Soundtrack, Somewhere, O Come All Ye Faithful, Where are you Christmas, and so many more. They are awesome! Most of them work for Disneyworld. Many of them sing the Voices of Liberty there, and some are Barbershop singers from the Florida area. They have been together for many years. There have been a few member changes just after the pandemic. They tour all over the US and hopefully to Canada next year!!

Yes, I am one that recommended them and they are truly amazing. My other Christmas favorite from them is O Come All Ye Faithful. EJ Cardona gets a chance to “go off” on that one 😅 Another really fun one is The Great Movie Medley and they have some great Disney Medleys as well. One features Kirstin from PTX. You should really listen to him sing this with the Gaither Vocal Band. He was the baritone for them. The simplicity of that arrangement makes the song more powerful

I love the other groups and artist’s renditions but for me this one is as near to perfection as you can get this side of Heaven! The dynamics, layering, BGVs and harmonies are masterful and help you to really focus on the meaning of the lyrics of this beautiful modern Christmas hymn. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I promise you will not be disappointed and suggest anything they do but start with; O Holy Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, Disney Love Medley, Disney Princess Medley, Great Movie Medley, Disney Heroes and Villains just to name a few.
