The Gospel is not about food. Healthy eating is great, but eating healthy and losing one's soul is tragic. The church must preach the Gospel.

Faith in God alone saves, Bare in mind, genuine faith produces repentance and works. This does not equate that you will never sin, but it does tell you that you will gradually move towards holyness. Many people struggle with repentance for years before they finally overcome their sin. Devestation over sin is a key indicator that you are repenting, and for some it produces fruit right away, some it might take longer. I agree, sinners prayer does not save. Jesus does. =)

Unless God causes us to repent, we will NEVER repent. This is why we cry out to God. If it US who (of our own ability) changes, this is works & we must credit ourselves. It is the Lord God who changes the heart of the wicked. It is the Lord God who puts it within a man to preach the foolishness of the gospel. We do this in response to the Word within us that enables obedience. The Word of God is the operating system of the new man. "The Law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul. Ps.19:7

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. (Jonah 3:10) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Read Romans 3 : 19 - 20 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

The gospel is actually all about eating: "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God." Matt.4:4 Here we see Messiah Yeshua calling forth the Torah (Deut.8:3). Jesus Christ IS Truth, the Manna come down from heaven. "Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food." (Job 23:12). "Blessed are they which do hunger & thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Mt.5:6

The ten commandments are for lost sinners to show them they are sinnners.. God writes the commandments in the hearts of the saved. The bible says the greatest of commandments is Love GOD above all with heart mind and soul. Jesus says if you love him keep his commandments. But there are more commandments than the 10. IF you love GOD with all your being everything else will follow

sin IS our problem. The word "repentance" in the Bible means "a change of mind." The Bible clearly teaches that repentance is necessary for salvation (Acts 2:38). It is impossible for anyone to be saved without repentance.Repentance in the Bible is when we make a U-turn in our mind concerning Christ and our sins.Faith comes first, but then God makes the necessary changes over time in a person's life.If there's is never any fruit(James 2:18-21)you were never saved. A sinner's prayer does not save

In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air. And there came a voice to him: “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.” And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.” This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven. The Law of God demonstrates the sinful depravity of every man. "The Law of the LORD [YHVH] is perfect, converting the soul." Ps.19:7 David meditated on the Law of God day & night (Ps.1:2). Jer.31:31-34 & Ezek.36:24-26 prophetically declares the New Covenant is God writing His Law upon the fleshly tables of new hearts He gives to His chosen, called out predestined people. Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." John 14:15 He is quoting the Torah (Ex.20:6 & Deut.5:10) He gave to Moses.

@AChristianapologist "These cathartic requirements he talks about are for those who fail the 10 commandments" Romans 3:23 state that for all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. That means me and you my friend. We have all failed the law of God, that it, the ten commandments. Jesus was the only one who did not fail the law. Yes you are correct, this is only for those who have failed the law...but we have ALL failed the law. David Platt makes a valid case.

Good points. I also like to read the story of King David. He had trusted in God since he was a young man. He knew how to lean on and be led by God, yet he committed a series of horrible sins. He lusted (desiring something to which you have no right.....letting the mind dwell on it and allowing the desire to grow unchecked) He committed adultery and premeditated murder. He didn't just apologize to God and try to be better. He BROKE down and grieved for his sins. Not for the idea of being caught out, but because he had sinned against God. We must do the same. We must understand how wicked we are, and be broken by that knowledge. Then we have to trust and lean on him. You can't do this on your own. You have to get to know him. Faith isn't a mental trick or an energy force...it is the result of understanding who God is. You learn who he is by reading his word. When you know him, trust is automatic. It is a gift from God. You trust because you know what you are trusting in. THEN, you give your sinful nature over to God's control. When you want to do wrong, recite scriptures. Out loud. Pray...let God defeat the temptation. He can do it. My dog has no moral code. She has no understanding of house rules, cleanliness, how to stay safe in a busy city or where her food comes from. She just knows that I am always there and whether she understands or not she obeys, because she has watched me constantly and knows I can be trusted with her safety and comfort. So she just follows. That's what we must do...just follow.

alizarin alexander DCjam12 I know what you're point is alizarin but i'll add some things to make it more clear so that DCjam12 doesn't read your comment the wrong way...lol. DCjam12 We are all wicked sinners DCjam12. We will NEVER stop sinning while we live in this "foreign land" as the bible calls it (the foreign land would be this earth, and we are sojourners, ambassadors for God). We will continue to sin until Christ's second coming when Christ defeats sin and death completely and throws sin, death, and Satan (along with all his "children") into the eternal lake of fire. The good news though, is that if you have placed your faith in Christ and His work on the cross, then Christ's life, death, burial, and resurrection is applied to you and that is the most wonderful news that a sinner could EVER hear. Christ's perfect and sinless life is applied to you so God now see's YOU as living a perfect life and see's Christ, as if He lived your sinful life.(Hence, Christ suffering on the cross for His sheep [sheep being all who believe on Christ]). Christ's death is applied to you so now every single sin you commit from the day you were born till the die Christ returns, is paid for on the cross and God has, "forgotten your sins". He has, "cast your sins as far as the east is from the west" (which is eternal in distance). Christs' burial and resurrection is applied to you and now God has made you "a new creation". He has given you "a new heart of flesh" that now desires God and desires to obey God's law in faith and loving submission. The difference in our sinning as Christians, compared to our sinning before we were saved, will be that now that we have true faith in Christ we do not take joy in our sin any longer without either simultaneously or directly after, feeling disgusted with the sin you have committed. We grieve the Holy spirit who lives in us and we feel it on our souls. We will see ourselves and our sinful actions as evil, as disobeying God. We will begin to hate our sin and our wicked flesh and fallen self just as God does. We will begin to love God and His law and seek to please God in obeying His law and in seeking to know Him by reading His word. Just as a side not, remember that this is all after a true conversion takes place, this is not something done _in order_ to be saved. Our life will slowly start to change direction toward obedience and love for God and His law. And our lives will turn from delighting in our own sinful desires and ways that God hates, to God and His word. We will be living a life of continual repentance of sin. One of the ways we know we are truly saved is if we continue in repentance and endure till the end (which is the same thing). I encourage you to read 1 John. It's only 5 chapter and it talks about assurance of our faith in Christ. About how we can know for sure that we are in Christ and truly are covered by Christs blood. My church is going through 1 John right now. The pastors (1 lead pastor and 2 associate pastors) are expositional preachers. They go chapter by chapter, verse by verse through each book of the bible and extract the meaning of each verse, the way that God meant it when it was written. You should listen to these sermons. They will GREATLY help you to understand this topic of continual sin in a believer and the contrast between the lifestyle Christians live and the lifestyle non Christians live, in relation to our sin. Here is the link. I'll will be praying for you man. God bless you. www.bakersfieldchurch.org/Welcome/Media.aspx Remember, it's 1 John. The sermons on 1 John start on May 17th. Just click the date, or the title of the sermon and a play button will show up.

Oh my friend, you won't think sin is a silly obsession when you one day stand before the Creator of all. Deep in your heart, there is a voice that you try to bury, but it is still there, and it speaks to you every time you sin, telling you that it is wrong. What is sin? 1 John 3:4 Sin is breaking the law of God, which is not just the 10 commandments, but includes them.

Repenting of sins does not save you. Judas repented and went to hell. You can quit smoking, drinking, lying and go to hell anyhow. Biblical repentance is when someone turns from unbelief to believing in Lord Jesus Christ, that He is God and washed away our sins. Nothing to do with die to self or repenting from your sins etc.

dylan mcphee repentance is repentance. From unbelief to believing into Jesus Christ, don't matter if you are saved or not. So in order to repent, you do not have to quit your sinning, but believing in Jesus Christ which produces quit sinning. If you quit sinning without turning from unbelief into believing there is no difference compared with these drunkards, dope heads and fornicators who repented their sin and never believe in Jesus Christ.

***** Read Romans 6:1-22 Only unsaved person can ask that question. If you are born again, the question is not how close you can go to sinning not getting caught, but how far off we can go from sinning into righteousness. But this question is not about our salvation or righteousness but our every day walk. God declares things what does not yet exists. God declared Jesus to be sinner, when He was not, same way God declares us to be righteous, when we were not.

If failing even one of the 10 commandments is sin, then how's it working for you? Need the cathartic yet? We CAN'T follow those commandments perfectly, and that's the point. The law is there to show us we're sinners in need of a Savior. It seems you are saying we just need to try our best and somehow it will all work out. If you are calling what Jesus did on the Cross a cathartic that's only needed for those who can't hack the BIG 10, then He died in vain. We need a Savior, not a drug.

Something is wrong with the message of this man. I like him generally but in this case he is a Christian leader and should know better in my opinion. All revivals start with focus on purifying from sin but get drowned in guilt and outlandishness in the end. We should focus on the 10 commandments and make our life as facilitating as possible to keeping them. These cathartic requirements he talks about are for those who fail the 10 commandments
