***** no, Rudisha is the greatest of all time. The olympics proved it. The man was unstoppable in a class of his own until he got injured last year. He still managed to win the world champs this year despite being 20% from his best. We will see him back at his best next year

Rudisha would regularly visit Australia to start his season and since I was usually in the top 3 nationally, I was fortunate enough to be in those races with him. Raced him in 2010, twice in 2011, once in 2012 and finally in 2016.

In all honesty, I suspect that you have deliberately misinterpreted the point that I made in my previous 'post'. You know as well as I do, Mr Depaz, that there are plenty of blokes (about 100, in fact) who have run the 100 metres sprint in 10.00 seconds - or faster. However, the World Record for the mile is NOWHERE NEAR as low as 2 minutes, 40.00 seconds. (It is, in fact, 3 minutes, 43.13 seconds; this time was set by Mr Hicham El Guerrouj [Morocco] in July 1999, and has remained unbeaten for over 15 years now.) Obviously, the current World Record - held by the gifted Moroccan middle-distance star of the 1990s and early 2000s - will be beaten one day..... probably at some point within the next 10 years. But common sense would dictate that NO human being will EVER run a mile in less than 3 minutes - let alone in 2 minutes, 40 seconds. I certainly did NOT imply - in my earlier 'post' - that a time of 10.00 seconds for the 100m sprint was equivalent to a time of 2 minutes, 40 seconds for the mile. If I thought that, then I would be a prime candidate for the funny farm (although, of course, in these days of Political Correctness, one is not supposed to use pejorative colloquial terms such as 'funny farm'). What I DID imply (in my previous 'post') is this:- It is PREPOSTEROUS for any human being to claim that they are capable of sprinting 1 metre in 0.01 seconds (even with a 'flying' start, as it were), as this is equivalent to sprinting 100 metres in 1.00 second. As we all know, any reasonably fit human being can run at their own MAXIMUM speed - i.e. sprint - for a distance of 100 metres. But NO human being - however athletically gifted and physically well-conditioned they may be - can run at their MAXIMUM speed for a mile (or even for a quarter of that distance, for that matter).

Gingam Usain bolt, the FASTEST MAN ALIVE, can only run 100m in 9 and a half seconds, multiply that by 8(without accounting for decreasing stamina) and it would take Usain Bolt 1 minute and 12 seconds to run 800m at best. There's absolutely no way you ran 800 in 35 seconds as it is literally humanly impossible due to the way our body is made up. So no, you didn't.

Everyone in 2012 set records for place. 8th would have, I believe, been faster than the Beijing (2008) winner. But no, not everyone in the race ran faster than the WR. That's never been done, in any event. It's rare for even 2 runners to break the WR - El Guerrouj and Ngeny did it when El G. set the mile WR.
