I bough the S98 Pro a while ago now and it's been superseded by the V20 Pro. So I bought that as well and it's finally escaped UK customs.

Hi, since the reading are quite different, did you have the chance to check with a thermometer which one was the accurate one of the two?

Even V20 Pro long rage thermal they saying but as you see the result S98 Pro is better long range with better details. I have now S98 Pro and super happy with it.

Exactly! v20 is just saying it long range with marketing and web design. really s98 pro is king of Thermal image for sure. they made beast thermal imaging camera on S98 pro and they need to sell new phone with some better specs so they kinda white lie... 😆

The V20 is my go to thermal imager at the moment. If I can stop giving them away I'll try to compare what I have left.

Hello David! Thank you for the comparison! Questions: # The V20 pro thermal vision app seems to display the temperature-points MUCH clearer than the S98 pro? The V20 has a black label background with white text where the S98 pro only seems to have one colour points? (or can you change it on the S98 pro?) # Which one has the best thermal camera in your opinion? OR is the difference only in the app? Thanks!

The S98 Pro has had the temp display numbers in red the whole time I've owned it, and it's never been updated in the app to be able to change it. The thermal camera in the V20 Pro is supposed to have improved long range performance. But I haven't tested that yet.

@@spacebear916 @DavidMcLuckie The I triple E forum has some nice threads Re: some of these devices- I followed the InfraRay topics since I had a infrared attachment for my android(until i accidentally left it at a bank ATM machine when running errands- wonder what the person thought when they found it and learned what it was....)...anywwway- few members had/ in process of creating custom apps- to unleash the ultimate full potential of such powertull il devices... many skilled folk over there just waiting to pounce on such an opportunity..or maybe they've already done so?// A feature I loved in 1 of the custom apps was the abillity to leverage ALL the cameras- well, the cell cam with overlay of the infrared(feature to shift the framing of either cam to line things up). There's alot of potential tucked away in these devices tthat can be unleashed- waiting for the right person to think it up.... humans are good at such -"get er done"... what was I talking about??

I just recently got the plug in thermal camera by Topdon, the TC001. It works really well, but I do wish the app had some more features such as even the ability to switch to Fahrenheit scale, dumb as it is. It also has an annoying auto focus freeze, but you can turn it off. As for your phones, seems to me the V20 is a little better at picking up small details and tracking them. Especially high or low spots such as the wires attached to your Peltier device. Also seems like it updates tracking a little faster, which may be down to the faster processor. The S98 is still pretty close though. Wonder which one is more accurate since they were about 3-4 degrees off in most cases it seemed. The V20 is definitely better looking than the S98 hahaha.

Hopefully in the next test when I can compare a selection, we'll see which ones give the same reading and whose reading are accurate or not.

About the V20 I'd just like to know how the fingerprint sensor built in the power button is working, specifically when you unlock the phone do you only have to touch the button/sensor or do you also have to press the button till it clicks? Or is there a setting that lets you choose? Also I've read that the sound quality is poor, but poor how? Is it low volume or low clarity or both? I wouldn't mind the low clarity if it was very loud, and usually that's the norm with these rugged phones, I'd just like to know if it's the case for this one.

The power button just needs touched to unlock. As for the sound. It's not mega loud, but I also haven't had a problem with clarity.

How do you think of the V20P as an actual phone? Im wanting thermal capabilities, but also a good quality phone too. Thermal is just for fun, and safety for me.

I'll need to use it more to give a proper phone review. But at the moment it's nice fast and I much prefer the oled screen.

I like my v20pro but overall it is to heavy and my OnePlus 8pro is faster and better (+wireless charging) - you are also limited to Android 12 still

Sort of. They have a rather limited range. I've tested another phone the AGM which is more suited to hunting or spotting people at long range. www.agmmobile.com/products/agm-g2-guardian-5g-unlocked-rugged-smartphone

The V20 Pro. But it's mostly as it's more useful for me. I'm not out tracking animals or people very often. The V20 Pros close range thermography is better than the AGM.

Everything is so nice, but why they remove wireless charging from V20 ? It will be perfect pfone for everyone who use phone outdoor and got problem with wet USB C Port like motorbike users

No doubt both phones have EXACTLY the same thermal image module. Only difference is the "mix" camera for the overlay and the app Both sensors are 256x192 pixels. I have the S98 Pro and the Flir one pro (last version) and i love the Doogee and HATE Flir... Flir ones battery is always dead, app doesn't work on 2 year or older phones.. it is slow, low framerate and terrible resolution. Only thing i don't like with the S98 Pro is that the light/proximity sensor died so automatic screen dimming doesn't work and it is regular LCD screen, as my old phone where AMOLED which is extremely much nicer to look at and read on

me too used to have FLIR one pro and image wasn't not great as s98 pro and i tried c3-X FLIR it was garbage. image was horrible even not close to Flir one pro. FLIR is government contract company only extreme expensive product is good other than pretty junk. and lot's of over priced. s98 pro is just amazing. and I bought C3-X FLIR from website they sent me stains and scuffed one sent me must be someone returned one re package and sent me as NEW ONE. Never buy FLIR. Pesonally S98 Pro image is better than V20 thermal👍

Trying to get tracking info from chinese sources is worse than pulling your own teeth, they just do not listen and end up driving you nuts to the point you would rather just pull teeth instead... :S
