You can tell he's joking though, he's got a smirk behind his eyes as he said it. You can just tell that he absolutely loved making the character, even if the movie production was troubled

He's joking, quite often actually, about how the does things "only for the money" As another example, he absolutely loved playing part of Philip in the "Shaun of the dead", but then on the set of "Hot Fuzz" joked about how he thought to "never again" to work with Wright, until they gave him a lot of money🤣 I guess that his favorite joke

One thing that always amazes me about Bill's performance as Davy Jones, is obviously there's so much of his face and character that is CGI (and ILM did a fantastic job, still some of the most incredible CGI in cinema and it was from 2006) but even though you have all that CGI, when you watch the behind the scenes clips, you see just how much of Bill's performance actually comes through, all the little facial expressions and movements. It's incredible! So much excellent work all round went into this character!
