Makes sense, Davy Jones hunts down the dead and the dying almost all the time and has been around for many decades, meanwhile Salazar has only been around since Jack was alive and hasn’t encountered other humans in years

I like Davy Jones more but Salazar has higher IQ and battle IQ and more experience. He had one of the highest statuses you could have in Spain, and with his clever tactics he had wiped out almost all pirates, something even Beckett was incapable of doing. He had the strongest and largest non-pirate ship in the franchise. The Silent Mary could destroy several ships at once while taking no damage herself. She had incredible firepower and speed and her crew was well trained. And don't forget her cursed state. She could destroy entire ships at once by crushing them with her bow and she could even sail effortlessly and quickly while in her ruined state. Salazar and his crew were intangible in their cursed state. So they couldn't get hurt unless they got to dry land, and they could walk through anything effortlessly. They could even possess people. So I think Salazar beats Jones easily, even though Jones is also super powerful.

I must disagree with one thing when it comes to battle iq it should be Salazar do to it experience oh almost whipping all the pirates off of the earth which is highly stated in the movies second he has a ship twice the size as the Dutchman we all seen the the black pearl is almost the same hight as the Dutchman but Salazars ship is much larger

No body beats Davy jones, Davy jones has shown in previous movies he has the power to break other curses as shown with bootstrap bill who at the time was at the bottom of the sea unable to die, Davy jones gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse and broke his curse and made him one of the crew of the Dutchman, so with that being said, he would most likely have the power to brake salazars curse and then ferry him to the locker, out of all pirates of the Caribbean villains, Davy jones is the most powerful

Davy Jones was always right, the injustice he suffered had made him ruthless. He was fair-minded and loyal to the rules of the ocean. Salazar is an egotistical bully. It is illegal. Davy Jones is far superior in character.

Davy Jones 🏴‍☠️ is just the best POTC villain hands down. He was giving an actual character arc. He was given personality. You could understand his pain and and why he was so quite literally heartless. Davy Jones is also very entertaining, due to the amazing line delivery from Bill Nighy. I also find Davy Jones is the perfect balance of comedy, tragedy and terror. Even his design deserves merit for how detailed and awesome it is. Xx

To be honest, the main sin of PotC 5 is it's one-movie plot. Original was 3 movies, which plots meshed together, in 5 it's just start and finish. I think Salazar could be a cool antagonist, but: - he was just recycled Davy Jones (curse, ship, lack of ability to walk on land) - his genesis and curse was just crap and stupid as hell If PotC 5 wasn't suffering ,,marvelish" or ,,Matrix 4" curse (plot is consistent only in one movie and it doesn't goes to next movie), I would really liked this part and even Salazar. But this movie was written and directed by people who weren't present during creation of original.

Extreme bias aside, i think battle IQ goes to Salazar. He was an accomplished Privateer and decimated a large gathering of ships and waged war. Jones relied too much on the kraken and his ability to ambush people and when in a fair fight it was dead even against another ship. IQ i think they're both tied in since both make huge mistakes (Jones showing Will the key, and Salazar following Jack into the Triangle) due to their overconfidence. Strength does go to Jones since he's seen throwing Jack easily with one arm, while Salazar struggles to walk. Ships is difficult, because Salazars can destroy other ships easily, but the Dutchman is able to go underwater and is almost supernaturally durable so I'll give both a tie. Cursed i will give to Jones, his curse gives him not only immortality, but Salazar has no way to kill Jones since the heart is on land and Salazar has no way to acquire it. Jones does also get more use out of his curse with the aquatic traits he and his crew gains. Experience does go to Jones since it's speculated he's around 130-140 years old. My personal ranking ends with Jones at a 5 and Salazar at a 3. In the end Jones has more options and experience and is harder to remove his immortality for Salazar, than it would be for Jones to remove Salazar's immortality.
