I purchased this two months ago and I absolutely love it! I did my first demo of lyrics and now sent it to my musician to put music to it. The cool thing was that I was able to record the lead and background vocals and with this Spire Studio machine, you can combine the vocals with just a push of a button, very cool!

I have one of these. The inputs will also accept quarter inch, so you can run an instrument direct. There's also a metronome built in, which is a nice touch. I thought this would be a simple way to start learning to record and it is. 6 months down the road, however, I find myself using a DAW, USB interface and additional software much more than this device.

That's the thing, this isn't for people who wants professional results. This is for people who plays a lot with friends and has lots of songwriting sessions just with normal instruments and wants everything printed in a semi decent way to have pretty good shareable demos. This is also for musicians who won't be dealing with real in the box production solutions anytime in the future. People who doesn't see the value in these types of products make me think that almost noone is making music normally. Nowadays people seem to be playing with sequencers and loopers more than actually composing and arranging music singing and using real instruments.

JEAG You are very wrong , I for example create from FL20 .. yes it’s a Sequencer but I’m creating my melodies etc the thing is it’s a modern day plug and play doesn’t cut it no more...Music is more in-depth than a bunch of instruments and vocals being mixed together. It’s 2020 we can’t be liking songs like it’s 1901

Yeah, it's a 350$ microphone-thingy with a free DAW. For daw-less, I saw a lot of Zoom all-in-one products. For a decent DAW (for your phone or tablet), FL Studio Mobile is like 15$. You can even plug your midi keyboard (via USB) into your phone and record midi notes. Get FL Studio Mobile for 15$, and you have 335$ left to CHOOSE a microphone and CHOOSE an android/iOS compatible USB recording interface. Yes, ANY class-compliant USB audio interface (that does not require you to install drivers) should work with your phone/tablet.

Seems like a cool product but, if you have an iPad already then I’d say GarageBand or Cubasis is a better option seeing as you have the inter app audio support for external apps like BIAS FX, Amplitube etc... plus if you go with Cubasis you are getting a proper DAW with a lot more functionality. And not forgetting if you use GarageBand you can import into Logic when you get home.

Is the DI suitable for re-amping later or are the built-in effects set when you record with it? For recording quick song or riff ideas on the fly, this could be really useful to dump into your DAW later to mess with.

Yeah, you'd have to record dry. Otherwise, you can choose one effects preset at a time and it prints to the recording. Also, you can upload to cloud storage as a zip of individual tracks in addition to stereo.

I have reservations, mixed feelings and unease about the ease of this product, and products of their ilk. Used to be, bands needed serious money to track, so they played and played and played, until they could even afford a four track recorder. This made better musicians. The ease of in the box recording has made it easier for everyone, myself included, and has led to the oversaturation of mediocrity online and everywhere. It has bred players that don’t need to play, singers that don’t need to sing, and engineers who don’t need the knowledge of engineering to engineer. I’m so torn...... this is really cool. But, it sucks.....

As of now, no but you can export a mix to your cloud storage, re-import it into the Spire and it will be stereo while only taking up one track. That was one of my first questions about it too. In practice it feels very much like the simplicity of using a cassette 4-track but from Star Trek and with way easier punch-ins lol.

Super great channel, Fluff! This thing's garbage though. By the time you have your tablet and this clunky alexa thing you might as well get out your laptop and interface and actually do a good job with your demos. This isn't for people who own laptops and interfaces, I think this should be marketed to beginners, people who don't have DAWs. It really does look simpler but also a lot less functional. It's like the GarageBand of interfaces/DAWs. Anyhow thanks so much for all this hard work!!

I think, it's too expensive. Not only about 400 Bucks for that and you need an IPad or a newer Android Device. In my opinion, just a good kind of USB mic, that you can connect to an IPad would make more sense. The mic about 150 Bucks and a daw for 5 Bucks and you are good to go. :) Or a field recorder, that is easy to use and can bluetooth connect to a handy. And when you collaborate with somebody, that somebody must have that thing too..... I don't think, that this will be the new thing. Simply too expensive and not innovative enough.

Yes, everyone has a phone and has paid for it. And a phone, that runs this quite well, isn't cheap. Android 7 and above, so everyone with Android 6 and under is screwed. And what I've heard is, that apple products change their connect thingies quite often, so maybe your older Iphone or IPad won't work or you have to buy an adaptor. This thing is a Daw Controller (for a shitty daw) and a Stereo Mic for 400 Bucks. If you have the money, go on. But in my opinion, there are better (and cheaper) solutions. And, c'mon, look at Fluffs face. Excitement looks different. :D

GarageBand iOS with a camera connection cable does the same exact thing. Buy a zoom interface for 40 bucks. The interface will be bus powered so you don’t need to fuck around with 4 hour battery life. You can send songs or projects through text messages on iOS. This thing is a complete waste of money.

What a useless product... If you have to use a smartphone with it, then might as well get a class compliant USB interface for a third of the price and a mobile DAW for 5$ or thereabouts and you get to do a better job than this. Hell, you can add a decent microphone and get a much better sound still for less than the Spire. Also the amp sim in there sounded extremely underwhelming. You could tell from a mile off it was recorded directly. There are free amp sims out there that sound significantly better.
