I deeply value her saying she has no interest in coaching NBA or WNBA because she has a vested interest in curating the experiences of college players. ❤❤

Greate interview Jemele! I absolutely love this woman/coach! It's obvious she's a "players' coach", and she is so open, so sincere, and seems like such a good person, that she just makes me so proud of the way she has represented, and accomplished everything she has. She is so very deserving, and has made me a fan of her and her teams! I'm looking forward to her catching, and passing coaches Summit, and Auriemma in wins and titles!

To Coach's point: true ball fans can see that the WNBA is still a more pure game than what the NBA has become. That is probably the best angle to go from. I LOVE basketball but I stopped caring about the NBA afterwhile bcuz it seemed more business and entertainment than sport. Hopefully, other ppl support. ❤

Dawn Staley & Jemele Hill: two of my most _favorite_ people on the planet!!! I love the shout out to Tracy Reid and Rhonda Mapp, two of my home-state Facebook friends!! Though I’ve been a champion of women’s basketball for 28 years now, I must thank Coach Staley for checking ME just now as I’m also one of those who thought the pay equity gap was about not enough revenue coming into women’s sports! She proved that wrong by getting the salary she wanted after telling her agent, “Stand down. I got this.“ ✋🏼💪🏼 Dawn Staley has always been one of the smartest people on this planet, and I’m so happy to continue learning from her. That said, while I love Jemele and most of the questions she came up with, I think she bombed with the one about 1996 Team USA versus 2012 Team USA. 😃 Seriously? First of all, Dawn played on the ‘96 team. Second of all, THERE WOULD BE NO _WNBA_ IF NOT FOR THE ‘96 TEAM!! 🙄 But I’m so glad the subject of that Team USA _Martin_ episode came about. 🙌🏼 It was so much fun seeing my new heroes-make that “sheroes”-on TV in that capacity. And while Dawn never mentioned anything about Brittney Griner as mentioned in the description, at least she wore the shirt. 🙂

Compensation doest happen without revenue. The thing women don't understand in performance jobs like professional sports ,management etc there's a base or standard payment for a job or contract or salary. All coaches cant make what the top PERFORMING coaches make. Performance is the key word Dawn came to South Carolina and turned a decent program to the one of the best if not the best programs in the nation. She recruits the top players and has a huge loyal fan base (have you ever been to a lady Gamecocks game?) That's a performance that's worth the money she gets. Why should another female coach make her salary without the same results? Also is your school as successful as USC? If your athletic department is bringing in the money that they are you can get money and better facilities. Now it makes sense for her to make more than the male basketball coach because she more successful. She is a anomaly how many more of her are doing what she does?

Nah… women understand this. However they understand that if they complain long and loud enough that the men will eventually cave. The women’s soccer team did it and the men agreed to an egregious contract that was super lopsided. Good on the women though. When emotion beats logic.

@@waj4ever16 That only happened in soccer and they're still complaining! Professional Basketball can't afford to cave because the WNBA doesn't make a profit. Female soccer did. Nothing from nothing leves nothing!

She should be among the highest paid coaches period and not the highest paid black coach. Just saying that is insulting and it’s definitely not a compliment. I’m not surprised with her success because I could definitely see her as what they call a player’s coach. Just because you were a great player it doesn’t guarantee success in coaching. Congrats to Coach Staley and SC.

People just give a damn about women's professional basketball. Look at Angel Reese, she trying to be an 8th year senior cause college is popping way harder than the wnba. The wnba literally are in the financial red every year, not making a dime if it wasn't for the NBA. Ain't nobody rocking no Candace Parker jersey over a Kobe, Shaq, Magic, Kareem jersey let alone Steph, Luka, LeBron, Kyrie etc. It's a joke league, a laughingstock especially when they start talking equal pay😂😂.

@mikegp1078 4 ай бұрын
The only way the wnba will get more viewing support is if they make all the players wear make up, all players must be waxed and play in a g string, and most importantly, lower the damn rim so these girls can finally throw the ball in the ocean😂😂

Geno is still hating on Dawn because she knocked him off the throne and their beef continues to this day. That team is loaded and should run it back with that class coming in. To be honest she should have 2 more. Aliyah Boston missing that layup shot and last year not taking iowa serious and they lost. No doubt if they played LSU in the championship none of you would have heard of Angel Reese because SC owns LSU. BTW she is tied at 2nd highest paid with Geno both behind Kim Mulkey
