Worked for a company in Minneapolis that hired a lot of Somalis. Some from Somaliland, some from the South. I got to know quite a few of them, really nice people, always wanting to small talk about everything and always asking questions to keep a conversation going. Almost all of them wanted to distance themselves so much from the violence that they didn't much like to talk about the differences between Somaliland and Somalia because it was pretty contentious for some of the more hotheaded youths and the much older folks there. Most the adults my age (30s) were just tired of the drama and violence and wanted a home and felt like they couldn't go back even if they had the option it was kinda sad. Super duper friendly. Wish i learned more of the language. Cant spell it but... Mahatsani (thank you i think?) for the video! Somalis like to give but refuse to take from strangers. The young boys at 10:50 were offered a tea but said no "Ceeb" which means embarrassing to take it from stranger. Why are people in the comments talking abou how "human" Somalis are? We are also people. Race dosent make us different.

I used to be a camp counselor a few years ago and had 2 Somali children in a group of 30. They were by far the most respectful of the group. I'd ask everyone to clean up, and they were always the only 2 to clean the whole room while all the other kids continued to scream and run around. It got to the point that I'd make them sit with me while all the other kids cleaned up, and the other kids would scream "it's not fair" lol
