For the crust you definitely needed more butter. It should resemble the texture of wet sand. You'd need about half to a whole stick of butter for the amount you used

Next time if the top of the cookie-pie looks burnt, just throw aluminium foil or parchment paper over it. Will prevent the top from burning while still baking the insides. A+ for creativity on this recipe experiment for sure!

More butter and white sugar in the crust would have helped. Also maybe baking the crust ahead of time with pie weights would yield a better crust?

Pie weights are used to prevent a pie dough from rising. Since this has no leveners in it (like baking powder or self-rising flour), pie weights aren’t needed ☺️

Lisa, i have a question. Does having a high spice tolerance mean you are able to hold the spice or does it mean you don't feel the spice

Depending on the spice you might not feel the spice until you reach a point where it’s spicy. It also means you can hold the spice too. My mom eats the spiciest foods like it’s a snack and sometimes her tongue burns but she says she enjoys the flavor.
@Ro-chan12 жыл бұрын
I'm not Lisa but I have pretty much high spice tolerance. I don't feel the pain like others around me do, but I do still sweat bullets whenever I eat good spicy food.

Just so you know when baking you aren’t supposed to take out the dessert and then put it back in the oven because that messes with the baking process instead to check it open your oven use a toothpick and if it comes out clean it is ready if it doesn’t it needs more time (the toothpick test doesn’t apply to cookies but since this was more like a cookie cake I would use the toothpick test and the toothpick test usually applies to cake/cupcakes and pies) and if you use that recipe with the grams instead of cups start by adding 1/4 cup of what ever it is or if it is eggs/egg whites/egg yolks just do one at a time till you get close to that measurement and if 1/4 cup is too much take it out of the bowl and try 1/3 and go from there until you get the same or about the same measurement and take notes on how much of each ingredient you use to get the same amount of grams so that next time you use that recipe you won’t have to worry about it
@denomava54702 жыл бұрын
Crusts vary depending on the type of dessert, when you do a cheesecake for example, the right way to do the crust is with melted butter and way more than the one you used, I usually use a little bit more than half a bar because it's melted, then you bake it for a little, like 5 to 8 minutes, not that much so it doesn't break or overcooks when you put it again in the oven when baking the cheesecake. Of course this is for that kind of cake, if you are doing a oven-less cheesecake you just need to do the crust without baking, but of course using the right amount of butter, that would've worked with your pie too, but I also think baking it it's just in case, I've made baked cheesecakes without baking the crust and they turn fine. Anyways, I'm glad that you gave baking a shot, keep up the good job Lisa

omg i used to do something like this when i needed a pick me up lmao i would buy a premade oreo or graham pie crust, fill it with premade cookie dough, and bake it 😂🤤 love your inclusion of ramen, so smart! and well i’m not expert but i think you could have used more butter, and melted butter at that - you want a wet sand texture, not just sand hahaha
@JakeLovesSteak2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you should have baked the crust first. It's probably good that you got store-bought cookie dough for this time. Just think of it as a test run. It was definitely a win and not a fail because now you know what to do next time.

For the crust, I think you needed to bake it BEFORE applying the cookie dough. If you want, you could always try cream cheese to keep it intacted and then pop it in the fridge to set. (like how people use frosting to make cake balls) Anyway hope this helps

Here’s the recipe I bake for cookies, I bake them every week. I have put my own input in the recipe in brackets, and I usually bake the chocolate chip cookie variation of the recipe. Oatmeal Cookies ¾ cup margarine or butter 1¾ cups all-purpose flour 1 cup packed brown sugar ½ cup sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon vanilla ¼ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional) ¾ teaspoon ground cloves (optional) 2 cups rolled oats Oven 375° In a mixing bowl beat margarine or softened butter with an electric mixer (by hand does work, but it’s a bit harder to do) on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add about half of the flour, the brown sugar, sugar, egg, baking powder, vanilla, and baking soda. If desired, stir in cinnamon and cloves. Beat till thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Stir in oats. Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375° oven for 10 to 12 minutes (I usually do it for 13-16 minutes) or till edges are golden. Cool cookies on a wire rack. Makes about 48. Fruit-Topped Oatmeal Cookies: Prepare as above, except, for topping, in a medium sauce- pan combine 1½ cups finely chopped peeled apples, pears, or peaches; ½ cup sugar; ⅓ cup raisins; ⅓ cup chopped pecans; and 2 table- spoons water. Bring to boiling, stirring constantly. Reduce heat. Simmer till fruit is tender and most of the liquid has evaporated, stirring occasionally. After dropping dough onto cookie sheet, press centers with your thumb. Fill each indentation with a level teaspoon of topping. Raisin Oatmeal Cookies: Prepare as a above, except, after stirring in oats, stir in. 1 cup raisins or currants. Makes about 54. Choose-a-Chip Oatmeal Cookies: Pre- pare as above, except, after stirring in oats, stir in i cup semisweet chocolate, butterscotch flavored, or peanut-butter-flavored pieces and ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans. Makes about 54.

Par baking the crust helps prevent soggy Bottoms and cooks it without overcooking the filling. For the cookies part putting aluminum foil over them prevent the top from being burnt or further cooked and helps cook the inside of the cookies

The ending was smooth like butter
@somerandomdude7102 жыл бұрын
I think yes, you need more butter but also you might need some kind of binder for the crust. When you make a normal pie crust next to the butter and flour, you have small amounts of gluten from the flour plus the tiny amount of water you ad also helps it come together well. Ramen is just like you said, like sand and when you put butter in sand and bake the same is gonna happen. That's my opinion, so you can play around with the recipe and maybe add a bit of cooked ramen powder, like you boil it and add to the dry mix.
@Ro-chan12 жыл бұрын
Definitely needs more butter for the crust. Also I wonder if you can make flavored flakey salt using ramen packets... just got the idea after seeing you mixing the salt with the packet.

Hey Lisa! Definitely use more fat in the crust next time. Also, because you're using cookie dough, you don't need to check the cookie's doneness by seeing if it's wet in the centre. Cookies continue to bake from residual heat, so if you take a cookie out once it's baked in the middle, you're going to unfortunately get a rock solid cookie
