Star has now completed a 10 day training program focusing on gaining control through clear communication and mutual respect. He's learned so much in this short time and has turned out to be a trusting and confident young horse! He started out very fearful and insecure because he had never been touched or handled by humans and now, just 10 days later, he's learned many valuable exercises that will give him a head start in life alongside his human handlers. Alongside him the other foal in this series, Nugget, has also completely transformed into a respectful and safe young horse! This series was filled with intense moments and ups and downs in the day to day training but it was a very real and accurate representation of things that can happen during a young horse's training. Young horses are full of energy and need to be imprinted at birth in order to avoid all of this extra stress and work when they are 6-8 months old. Here is a link to the video on how to do that! • Newborn Foal Training-... Training these Foals now at this age is better than waiting until they are adults when we will barley be able to hold onto them because they would be so strong. Overall both foals turned out amazingly well, they continue to grow and are still easy to handle when I saw them just last week! Thank you all for your support on this series I hope you enjoyed it! God bless! Daniel Ratcliffe

Too much cuteness. I wish more people would do this with their young ones.

Really impressed with your foal training. I have a foal the same age as the ones that you are training and have picked up some great training with your videos. Think you could do a video on starting a foal/young horse to trailer? Thanks!

As always.. so impressed. Why do you slap the ground next to them to yield after lunging?

Thank you so much! Good question… It helps the horse to remember to move their hind end out of the way when he stops. In the beginning I actually make contact with the whip to tell the horse to move its hind end over. It doesn’t take until I only have to whip the ground and eventually alls I will have to do is look toward their hind end and they should move it.
