In this lesson Nugget learns how to listen to cues even in distracting environments. He also shows impressive improvement when it comes to handling his hind end compared to the previous day. Working with young horses outside of the pens is a great way to add excitement and variety to the training. Overall despite running into a tree Nugget did very well, is learning quickly, and will soon be finished with his training.
If your foal is even younger than the foal in this video then you should watch the video linked below next!

Awesome video!!! I think some people (who commented) do not understand how much work goes into to not only training these horses, but also recording and editing the videos with it all!!!! If the foal was completely calm and relaxed then it wouldn't need the training. Keep up the good work brother!!!

Your video showed up on my feed this morning. :) When I watch someone for the first time, I turn the volume off and just watch the actions. You're a tall guy! Can I suggest you lower your leading hand (as low as you can) and just take the whole speed slower? I can see some of your moves might be Parelli or Clinton based, so take the sting out of everything and breath more and watch the feet more, not the face.... I'm going to subscribe and watch, as you def have some nice feel and timing, balance will improve with these suggestions.

These foals are coming a long way. Plus, I always like it when horse trainers use rope halters due to pressure and release from the bridge of their nose and behind their ears. It doesn't hurt the horses, it makes them uncomfortable if they pull back. A person can literally do a light tug to get them to move. They're a perfect tool to correct the horse. Yes, correct. Punishing horses won't work, so we correct them if they're doing something we don't like or if they did something wrong. Horses respond better with correction - no beatings, whipping them with anger, kicking them really hard with anger, yelling, locking them up in stalls, etc. Interestingly enough, they're known as cowboy halters. Back before snaps and buckles, the cowboys will use roles, make a halter, and that's how they led their horses. Of course, I have no problem with nylon halters with training. If anyone is wondering why we can't punish a horse, is because they're minds work differently than a human's. When a parent punishes their child by putting them in a naughty spot or in their room, they knew they're being punished, and they have to think about what they did. If they got slapped across the face - by the way hitting kids isn't always abuse - they knew they got punished. I was slapped when I stuck my tongue out at my mom when I was little and I never did it again. They're favorite things can be taken away, or not having electronics are indeed punishments. When a babysitter tells the kid, "You've been bad, wait until your parents find out." When the parents say, "You're in trouble, wait until tomorrow to tomorrow and we're gonna talk about it." Hours go by and the kid knows they're going to be punished. This doesn't work out for horses. They shouldn't be hit, they shouldn't be locked up in a stall after they're told to think what they done, etc. Why? Because they're not people. They cannot multitask. And there's only three seconds to correct a behavior you don't like. If you get kicked, if you get bit, if a horse doesn't do something you don't like, and you don't react fast enough, forget about it, because so has the horse. Here, Horse Perfect is correcting this foal with taps with the stick and string/lunge whip. Tapping on a horse on their body and on the nose is okay, but bashing them is not acceptable in my point of view. A firm flick in the wrist to make contact with the string on them, not to hurt them, just a little whack, as long as it's not a harsh one, is okay, too. But whipping them like they're punching bags is a big no-no. And I can see these foals having a great future ahead of them - the chunky one being my ultimate favorite out of the two.
