Privet Martin, I tried to reply to you earlier. Let's see if it works this time. I don't know what is wrong. I had a nightmare last night that it was a return of a previous health problem. It seemed that I was okay after surgery last year, but as the months have past, the pain is different. Hopefully it is something that is easy to fix. I should not have mentioned my fear. I do not intend to worry anyone. I was thinking of how strange it might be if I was missing from the class for some time, like what happened last year. It is difficult to get a doctor's appointment soon here. I have one for next week as most of the doctors are away on summer holiday. I have tried to get an earlier appointment. Anyhow, hopefully it will be okay. God Bless you Martin ✨

I also understand this idiom in terms of time. Oftentimes we are not happy with our present situation and so we look to the future for better times. The irony in this is that tomorrow never comes. It is like a poster I saw in London that said, Free beer tomorrow.. Lily made a great point, to be grateful for our present moment is the secret to happiness now.

Fine there, where we are not. Sometimes it's the weather that is fine elsewhere, meanwhile at home the weather is unpleasant. There's also a way of looking at the world, and feeling that somewhere else is naturally going to be better than where you are. That's not always true though! The grass can appear greener on the other side of the fence - but perhaps it's simply the same grass and you're yearning for it with an unrealistic desire or viewpoint. Or maybe it looks greener, but on closer inspection - the grass is only harmful weeds!✳ (I try to explain this to my goat, but she doesn't listen to me.) "The grass isn't always greener on the other side. It's about recognising what you do have and being grateful for it." 🌱💚🐐 If the grass is greener on the other side, it's probably because it's getting better care. Success depends upon common sense principles and applying them. ✅ If the grass looks greener on the other side, it could be fake grass. ❇

I don't know Italian proverbs with this meaning, but in the sense of "Хорошо там, где нас нет" I like Socrates' phrase:"Chi non è soddisfatto di ciò che ha non sarebbe soddisfatto neppure se avesse ciò che desidera" ('He who is not satisfied with what he has would not be satisfied even if he had what he desires')

Yes, Francesco, "green with envy" comes to mind in relation to that 💚 Still, envy is a better emotion that jealousy. In Oz we sometimes say, "green with jealousy." Love your comments, so glad you're back ! 😘

The notion of things being good there where we are not must be an almost universal thought in many cultures. Many people believe that they have difficult lives and yearn to escape to something better. Often this ends up in disappointment which is the warning of the idiom.

хорошее там где на нет in Dutch something comparable 2 sayings. 1) het gras is altijd groener aan de overkant en 2) het is gras is altijd groener bij de buren. The gras is always greener at the other side and the grass is always greener at the neighbours

Your message is so lovely and I tried to reply to you TWICE earlier and each time it goes astray. It's as if someone doesn't want me to use this channel 😟 When I checked all I see is "1 reply" beneath your name, but it doesn't open 😮‍💨 Sorry, I had a nightmare last night and spoke of it on the chat. It was a weak moment and I shouldn't have said it, but if I am missing from the class for a while, perhaps it will seem strange. I had to go out of town last year. After I read your words of encouragement I made an appointment - but it is almost a week away. So hard to get a doctor here and our hospital is understaffed ... anyway, hopefully it is not a return of the previous problem. Maybe it is even something simple to treat? It got worse gradually, so at first I thought it was related to post-surgery pain. Now, I don't know. Anyhow, so sorry to cause concern. The nightmare was realistic. Ahhh! Ma certo! (ясно!) "L'erba dei vicini è sempre più verde" (literally: neighbors' grass is always more green [than ours]) = Хорошо там, где нас - нет. Explanation: there where the grass is greener, you live better. So it's not where we are living right now, but there where we are not. Or at least that's the impression you have before moving there, only to find out that it's always the same thing.

I think this will not be cancelled: many oncologists do not know, how important vitamin dee is in immune defence, i.e. also defence against cancer! I know of one who gives 100,000 I U daily for one week to every new patient, less thereafter. Of course, this doctor measures the blood levels and as the case may be, also the active form calcitriol is given. It takes about 6 weeks from the oral form (or the one from the skin under UV-light) to the active calcitriol (which is used up in a few hours). Sorry for being boring. But I wish, Lily, you had a knowledgeable person providing you a strong immune system! The i. s. heals cancer, nothing else!

Thanks Lucky and i do take extra Vit Dee as I have difficulty absorbing it (a genetic problem, my cousin has this too.) I also wish I had a good doctor here. There are few at all where I am now. It was better in Canberra, when i was there, as far as medical. My problem got out of hand during the loc/k/dow/ns it wasn't possible to get checks or appointments or treatments. A lot of people in the same boat now 😞 But at the same time, i believe you Lucky, it is the I.S. that heals - nothing else! So I think it was probably good that i couldn't get treatment (irony!) I had so much stress for a few years in a row, many things happened, some tragedy. It had an effect on my health afterwards. Thanks for your good wishes. It means the world to me that folks are so kind. Blessings to you!

@@lilyrose4191 Hi Lily, I wish you a beautiful day! May I suggest you look for the channel of Dr. John Campbell, "Sir John", as I call him, kind of an angel on earth. You will see, as you go along; I think I do not exaggerate. Something that must go along with the dee is Vit A 2000 I.U per day, and zinc around 30 mg. Ought to be easy to get. I myself have to be very careful and take a complete range of essential micro-nutrients, having recovered from a very rare tumor of the skin (t-cell-lymphoma), thanks to the stemm-cell-transplantation from my sister... Take care and be strong!
