Day 59 | Donohue Pass and Yosemite | Pacific Crest Trail Thru Hike

Made it up and over Donohue Pass. A tough climb but the valley below was spectacular! I got my permit checked for the first time and saw Tuolumne Falls - the biggest waterfall in Yosemite! It was a long day but beautiful day!
Miles 923.8-949.5 (25.7 miles total)

So sorry about the grill being closed. They've had a lot of snow this past winter. It used to open around Memorial Day. You're really crushing the miles! Blessings!

I watched this video at Colter Bay village in the Tetons. It’s nice to enjoy the amenities every now and then. Yosemite is huge.

There are no blazes on the pct, occasional markers. The Far out app shows you in real time where you are in real-time to the trail so if you are off you can see that.

Yeah, having map and compass/gps skills is helpful on the PCT and CDT. FarOut will show you on/off the trail, but you can be far enough off trail to need a map to return to trail. We, the PCTA trail crews, do place emblems at junctions and confirmation emblems about 100 feet down the correct trail from the junctions, but no mileage markers or intermittent blazes in wilderness areas. Hikers need to be aware of their location and most all seem to get the hang of it quite well.

You mentioned the Grill. I hadn’t thought of that place in 42 years, when I lived in a tent cabin at the entrance to Toulumne Meadows Campground, working summers for the NPS Maintenance.
