Great video Thomas. I like that you soot with the dust cover on the 99 and 38. That is the way they were intended to be shot.

Thanks! Glad someone commented that actually knows! Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to address the myth of “they threw away the dust covers because they rattled.” May actually address that in a short come to think of it

Always good to see your content. Im glad you didn’t get hurt with that overpressure event.

Thanks! It was quite a shock when it happened but no real damage to my eye 👍🏻

Always nice to see a Siamese Mauser being shot, I think there is less than a handful of such videos.

It’s a rough one to get ammo for unless you are adept at reforming brass (which I am not) thanks for watching!

Thanks! And yeah it definitely would’ve been worse if I hadn’t been wearing safety glasses

I wonder if that Hangyang is one of the really beat up rifle during the Korean Wars, been refurbish, then that may be the case.

I think these rifles were unfairly lumped in as junk in the past and are only now being appreciated

Agreed

Hilarious how it’s actually literally the opposite. 99 is essentially the best bolt action pre/post ww2 battle rifle ever

It definitely has the strongest receiver (it and the Type 38)

If I can find a Siamese Mauser that’s complete with a bad or less than stellar bore I’m already making plans to re barrel it to 7.62x54R since a lot of reloaders already use 7.62x54r brass to convert to 8x52R and 8x50R Mannlicher. Already got a barrel from Ebay on the way and once I have it in hand I’ll have a local guy remove the sights and then it’s off to the barrel maker to have a barrel blank copied off its profile.

Not a bad plan at all

@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry I even managed to track down a set of technical drawings for the Siamese Mauser clips so once my brother gets his 3d printer going I might take a stab at making some clips since originals are rare as hens teeth and almost as expensive as the rifle.
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Жыл бұрын
@benjaminhartle1567 yeah I’ve never seen a Type 46 clip no matter how hard I’ve looked

What kind of ammo over pressured that gewehr 88?
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Жыл бұрын
Buffalo Arms, first one of 40 rounds to do that.
