This video was great to watch, cause I want to do this when I’m older. My ultimate vision would be to work at one that own my kids can go to so that I can work but still be with them. I also love the aspect of being with kids of multiple age groups. I love watching Teacher channels, and seeing their tours, and Day In The Lives, and it does look really fun. Especially the classroom setup. But I couldn’t do it, because I’d only be working with one age group of kids for the most part, and I’d only be with them for a year, whereas at a Daycare it’s kids in a range of ages, and obviously some of them will get to be with me or multiple years. Thanks for posting this video again, especially because it’s a video of a Daycare classroom in a school/recreational like building with co workers. I want to work in one of those, not in a home daycare run by one person which is what lots of the videos show. The little ones are so cute, I can’t wait.

that little girl Leah/Aleah whatever they are saying, the shy one, is so so so sweet, quiet, such a good little girl. I adore her i just want to take her aside and play with her one on one where she would not look so scared and uncomfortable. you can tell she id afraid during the paper glueing and just isn’t comfortable with groups yet, seems like this daycare is not the best fit for her or maybe she is too young she looks way younger than the others.

Unfortunately that is what a lot of Daycares are like. The quieter/shy children are often pushed to aside or ignored by the staff or forced into situations that make them anxious that they don't want to be in (like group activities) It doesn't help that in settings like these, children are usually forced to socialise or "be part of the group" when it comes to activities which isn't good for the children who are quieter and would prefer to play alone/ do activities 1-1. This is why children with Autism and ADHD struggle in settings like these because they are just not understood by most of the staff , they are forced to socialise/ be around others when they don't want to be and they are sometimes labeled "challenging" or "difficult" leading to them not getting the support they need. I worked in a Day Nursery (UK equivalent of a daycare) and I didn't enjoy it because of reasons like that. I loved being with the children but seeing how children with special needs or children with introverted personalities were treated by most of the staff it really put me off and I won't be working in a setting like this again. I think it doesn't help the silly group mindset that a lot of these places have, the education system really needs to learn that not all children like being in a group and some children prefer to learn 1-1 and children with additional needs are usually better learning 1-1 . Unfortunately most settings are not like that which is why I won't work in a day nursery again or any education setting . Sorry for the long reply, I think your comment was really sweet because you noticed that little girl and picked up on how she was feeling 😊

Hi Lexi can I interview you for 10-20 mins? I happened to watch your video and think you are a good example for one of my assignment. I am currently taking ECE course and this really helped me a lot.

Everytime the teacher says nursery rhymes, I'm gonna cancel my daycare forever. I'm 13 years old, and I was born in May 15, 2008. So I can do whatever I want except for Wheels on the Bus and it goes (singing) The wheels on the bus go dot. (groans) My daycare is ruined! I have been kicked out on daycare because I'm a teen, and I can do whatever I want and play Super Mario Party on the Nintendo Switch.

Circle time for this age group is not developmentally appropriate. Even children 3 and 4 should have circle time for only 10-15 minutes. These children are in too much teacher directed activities for too long. If you are going to do "art" with the children let the children do it themselves. You are doing all the work. Give them more choices of materials. Also using good job as praise is meaningless. Give praise to the specific action or what the children are doing. Give praise on effort not on being good or smart. Need to take some classes on early childhood development and education.

This young lady is obviously at the start of her career in working with children and still learning. Her patience and care for the children is obvious. I think your final comment was a little harsh. However, I agree with you in regards to the length of circle time for this age group and while her fine motor skills activity was a fun concept I agree with you that too much was done by the adults for the children. You beat me to feedback on the "good job" comment which was said so many times I wanted to climb into the video and pull Alexa aside to talk to her about it. I like the way Alexa gave them a choice between two coloured markers.

Well Rhonda, I'd much rather my students be with a caring, sweet person like this lady, than someone who takes the chance to provide unsolicited criticism in the way you have. You're a bitch.

Why do you have only the pink girl as your favourite. Why not pick other kids too for different activities. Just want to understand. The other kids are definitely feeling left out

Some children need more physical affection to feel safe. It may just be that specific child’s temperament. She may be slow to warm up to new things and shows that she needs extra support there. During the circle time you could see that the girl wanted to sit in the teachers lap and fussed when she was moved

Whilst there is noticeably good communication going on, it is a pity the children are not given full autonomy to work on their skills. For example the use of glue brush and not the children restricts the ability to master their fine motor skills. She also seems to guide the children's hand to her interest rather than the child's. Showing confidence in children's abilities certainly increase children's own confidence.

What’s wrong with saying good job?
@suzanneedmonds1566
@suzanneedmonds1566 5 жыл бұрын
@@madtingz2288 because it is not specific. Specific praise/feedback helps children on a number of levels. More specific praise or observations are a great method for reinforcing and teaching vocabulary plus reinforcing appropriate or desired behaviour/skills. Examples are "Harper you used alot of colours, let's count how many", "Ro-Ro well done with sharing the paint brush/toy/book", "McKinnley thank you for sitting/joining in the circle", "Wow Carlos you can jump very high", "De'Nasia thank you for putting your book back on the shelf", "Jeremiah great balancing with the blocks", "I see alot of sharing/helping one another in the kitchen area". An endless flow of "good job" is meaningless. I understand Alexa's aim but her method is not meaningful to each child as an individual"

I agree with you 100%, she needs to work on praising children on their effort, and find other words then good job. After a few minutes that was all I could hear. But she seems very sweet.

That and the "no thank you's"! As someone mentioned, the activities are not developmentally appropriate but more importantly, that table is 100% inappropriate. I would use this video to show how not incorporating RIE actually looks, and then discuss the ramifications for children being "placed" in chairs, rather than engaging children's agency by using toddler-appropriate table and chairs that children can walk up to and sit down on, on their own.
