I am 31 and do not know anything about cyber security but I am eager to learn. I am planning on getting a certification at my local community college. Do you think it’s a good idea to switch careers this late?
@UnixGuy2 жыл бұрын
31 is young!! if it is what you want, go at it! the community college certificate is an excellent start. From there you’ll get a taste of what area in cyber you like and pursue that, I have other videos about certification check them out I know people who swtiched in their 40s and 50s so you’re not too old at all

@@UnixGuy thank you for the positive and reassuring feedback! I will definitely check out those videos you mentioned. In your experienced opinion, would I be able to find a job with the certification that I will get at the local CC?
@UnixGuy2 жыл бұрын
@@bullsfan9162 some people can some don’t, it depends on so many factors, such as the quality of the course, how well you interview, opportunities in your area, etc etc. Just know that getting your first job is hard and you migbt need to get a random IT job just to build out your experience. Some people manage to get a cyber role right away, but it’s not easy. The comnunity college is the start of your learning journey

Hey thanks for the insight. Would you say 9 to 5 is possible most of the time in cyber security consulting? Many say that it would be an average of 10 hours a day so I dont know what to think.
@UnixGuy7 ай бұрын
yes its possible, it will depend on a lot on the organisation and the team you’re in
