A glimpse into how I structure my day to try and get it all done. Spoiler I never get it all done, but I do my best! One of these days I am going to try and NOT do it all, lol.

My husband and I never thought we would homeschool either. I believed the lie that homeschool would be overwhelming and too stressful. The truth was doing carpool drop off, pick up, homework, projects, school supply shopping, teacher appreciation days, bullying, and managing my anxiety of my kids being away from me was way too stressful and overwhelming. I now get to see my kids learn in real time, hug them when a subject is too tough, cheer for them when they accomplish a goal, cuddle while we read, and no carpool and no homework! There is beauty in change.

I am a teacher in the UK England. Now I have a little one aged 4 it's compulsory to send them to school. I have mixed feelings. I've seen a lot of good teachers, a lot of caring teachers and some of these staff overwhelmed by huge class sizes, no money for resources, limited photocopies and books. Bullying which parents are not always told about, and some challenging students taking the time away from other students etc. I don't want to send them yet to be honest

I homeschooled for 6 years. We did the co-op also. It was amazing! We had a symphony orchestra, an RN who taught biology dissection, performed plays. I am a physics geek and taught that. We were blessed that it was a Christian group.

Oh! I missed this! Okay, first I think 70% of the time keeping things to a schedule is a win. And yes yes yes, I think of the different me's - having lunch at work me would often have a great deal to say to morning me over what was packed in my work lunch-bag. Morning me was starry eyed and a bit of a health fanatic, while lunch me had absolutely no time for such rubbish and wanted bread and pasta and yum and nothing to do with salads! You are amazing, honestly it just puts me in mind of all the mums out there busy from sun up to sun down and the sheer amount of work they need to get through and I honour you all! I have just me, and I'll admit there's a basket of folded laundry which needs to be put away and I just know it won't get done until tomorrow - so yes - I think you are amazing 😊

I think you have your life together! Four kids and multiple dogs in your house, and everyone looks fed and brushed, that’s amazing! 😃 My hanging clothes have quite a good and quick routine by now. I have them sorted (longsleeves together, jeans together etc) on my bed in a flat pile. I put the hanger in the first and flip it over, fold it in the middle, so the hanger is watching my feet. Next hanger next flip, and when all the shirts or whatever have their hangery partner, I just need to grab them by the hangers heads and can put them all at once in the closet. What a complicated description for so simple steps 😅 And here comes something for your lower days: I would love to be your friend so very, very much! As you just realized you DO have patience if something comes a important, and I am sure that also includes being a very attentive listener if someone needs to get something off one’s chest, whether there is a blessing to be shared or a sorrow to be lightened. I thing you also have a talent in finding a sweet and uncommon perspective to every situation, and I love that it is always a positive one you are looking for. As a fellow depressionista I know where this comes from and appreciate it maybe even more than those ominous „normal people“, and I do it myself often and surprise the people around me. I get complimented on that often, and I don’t know if you do too, or even are aware of this gift you have. So: except from myself, I have never „met“ anyone else who is so desperately able to see good in everything. And to explain it so well! I’ve had it a few times now that things you say resonate so deep with me, that a little word or thought flips through my brain like a pin ball and makes connections and turns the lights on, meaning that I understand things I was not aware of but that now TOTALLY MAKE SENCE and urgently belong together!! Like naming those horizontal phases „rest days“, almost enjoying them and being sure that when the time is right, I will be able to easily get up and DO THINGS! And yes, from todays video I take the perspective of being made to do certain things, and that they are opportunities and enjoyable 💜 I already almost got rid of this bad feeling and all the self insults if I just don’t make it out of bed, all the guilt and shame that comes with it. And now I get a little light of hope that the same can happen to my guilt of a wasted life, although I have so many talents that I way to rarely make use of? Wow.. how amazing that would be, and it unexpectedly seems possible 😳 To end my rant: Thank you Shannon. You don’t know me, and yes it IS creepy that nonetheless I feel so connected to you. But this is at least the second time that you are bringing me up on a bright way to more love and understanding for myself, and by that I am able to overcome major obstacles that hinder my feet to stay on my beautiful and destined path. Thank you! 💜

I love your tooting story, and no way I would have ever stopped reminding you of it 😂 And I have some of those too.. Over here our system of learning professions is a little different than yours. Some you also study at university, but most of the more practical ones (like nurse, electrician, photographer..) you learn in 2-3 years time, combined in school and a normal company. Over 10 years ago I learned that way to become a photographer, and once we had a 3h shoot with a lady, that wanted her children on some of the pictures with her. They arrived, I went in the studio to inform them.. knocked on the door, just put my head in and said „I have two beautiful boys ready for some pictures, just let me know when you want them in!“. Guess. The cute teenage surferboy sure was her daughter.. Shy little me was not quick-witted than at all, so my glowing red head and me hid out in the server room for the rest of the week. Funny thing is, that day out make up artist made a little comment about it, but the situation was never ever brought up again, but the little gnome in my head loves to occasionally remind me.. and I still blush..

There’s no time limit to education. All my kids are older, two ready for college. I’ve told them if it takes 6 years to get a four year degree, that’s great. As long as they figure out what they enjoy doing and are good at it. Right now it seems like they’re gravitating toward chemistry and accounting. Also, you’re looking really good, Brooke. 😁 I watched awkward mom this morning and was inspired to start exercising again. Hopefully, that with the intermittent fasting will be a turning lint for me.

🤔I also watch for motivation, but I also completely watch and eventually I will get the motivation to get started. My daughter was in Highschool when I began to homeschool her, she’s was going into 10th grade. She’s finally graduated through that. After the crap that happened worldwide, I began to completely homeschool my son in 3rd grade.. And second grade I was not completely satisfied with to begin with.

I think it's great that you've been friends for 26 years! You're looking very svelte, shrinking Shannon! Your children are so sweet. That Eric just melts my heart with his little grin. When my younger son was three, he wanted to learn to read. His preschool teacher told me he was too young. I'm not a teacher but he was insistent. I labeled everything in the house. It looked a little strange. He sounded out words when we read together and he learned to read before he was four. He was an excellent speller, something I'm not. I found a dictionary under his bed when he was seven. He said he liked to read it before bed, lol. He's still a great kid and an avid reader as are his four children. They're homeschooled also. I'm so grateful they made the commitment to homeschool. Take care, Linda 🦋

You're awesome at homeschooling your children ❤ That's so cute hearing your son read that little book. What a great achievement 🎓 My brain has a continuous loop running of conversations that took place, you're not the only one. I see think of me in the 3rd person all the time. My strengths are sciences and literature. I try to do myself a favor and help tomorrow morning's Dyann and do my dishes every night. Makes the next day seem less difficult to start. I do a lot of weird things. I think of something super funny or super sad just to either laugh my butt off or cry my eyes out. I just feel better after a good crying laugh fest or a good cry. Take care.

Was wondering if some prayer warriors would put a prayer forward. My husband was laid off last week. He was up for a raise and promotion, they decided to give his job to someone overseas, so they would only pay half the salary. It was effective immediately at that meeting, with 2 weeks pay. He was told to send his computer immediately. They stated it had nothing to do with the great job he was doing at the company. He’s so kind, helpful, talented and goes above and beyond to help other departments. His co workers were very upset. ( writer,copyeditor,marketing, promotions and branding) other skills as well Im trying to hold him up. A week before this happened we found he fractured his ankle from a previous injury. He has a month of insurance. We had finally gotten to a place where we had some savings, he got a bonus one year, cost of living raise. We were about to set up life insurance. Things that we had never had. Tmi, im sure Any advice would be helpful 💕

Fun video! Thank you for teaching your children to read and socializing them! I know some home schoolers that can’t read and are at an age they should. It breaks my heart and I pray they catch up. Just sharing something I do with laundry but realize this might not be feasible for you. I have a rod in my laundry room where I store empty hangers. As soon as it comes out of the washer, I hang it to dry. Outside right now in Texas and they are dry in under 30 min and that’s in the shade but I also hang them inside on a shower rod and they don’t take long at all. I do this with the majority of my clothes. When they are dry, just grab and hang in the closet. I find my clothes last much longer because I think heat breaks down the fibers quicker (just me, no scientific research to confirm). By the way, love the videos where you clean and straighten your rooms. Enjoy and can’t wait to see you again!

We homeschooled for six years. It started because we did a cross-country trip for three months after my husband retired from the military. At the end of the three months I was planning to put them back into the parochial school we had been in for several years. He said, “If you can do it on the road and at other people’s kitchen tables, you could do it here. We also had a fabulous co-op! One mom taught symphony orchestra, another biological dissection, another directed plays, and this physics nerd taught middle school physics. We were blessed that it was a Christian-based group!

In Germany, school attendance is compulsory and homeschooling is prohibited by law. Since I only know this concept from American mothers that I subscribe to, I was wondering how to get a degree to go to college for example?
@LeafLikeOnATree
@LeafLikeOnATree 10 ай бұрын
They would still be able to attend any college or university of their choosing. They would still have to qualify based on that school’s requirements. I am actually starting to hear more an more that colleges like to take in homeschoolers because they tend to be more well rounded and self-disciplined students. Homeschooling here in the US has become a pretty common practice that we aren’t looked at as strange or unusual like homeschoolers might in other countries. I will have to keep High School records just as any public school would, but colleges generally go off of standardized test scores like the S.A.T. to qualify a student for their program. So we would still have to take those, and do well enough, before being able to enroll in college.
