My local hospital has a lot of openings for the unit secretary. But as a patient with CHF those stairways are going to take me out! Again no harm in trying it out.

This is interesting!!! Thanks for this video! I'll be starting in EVS soon and i'm curious about what other departments i can advance to in the near future.. im fricking nervous but ugh when am i not, lol i'm always nervous for some sht..

As far as evs goes im 19 and ive been in evs for almost a year now and its pretty smooth but busy lol and definitely keeps you on your toes but you definitely will want to switch departments once you get comfortable in the actual hospital setting and know your way around lol and thats why im here as well watching her video🤣 but good luck and i hope the best for you ❣️

So the good thing is you're already hired by the hospital which means it would be easier for you to transfer to another department. I would say you can apply for reception positions all you'll need is a high school diploma and you can work your way up from there.

Look on your hospital website see what positions are open! Apply for what you qualify for and hopefully something works out!

I also started in EVS a bit ago and was recommended to look into this position by one of the HUC’s so here I am! She even gave me a reference! ❤ Thank you for this information it’s helpful to get an inside look at the job itself.

Im thinking of taking this position at the hospital I currently work for but I’m nervous about all the phone calls. How are the phone calls Im nervous of not knowing information when doctors call.

Lol that was me too! Sometimes doctors would call and I would be like huh? But you’ll learn as you go and when in doubt just ask the charge nurse☺️

Interesting I’ve been a LPN for a few months. My dream healthcare position is to work in labor and delivery (I think). I just seen an opening for HUC on labor and delivery at my hospital. Want to apply but also nervous about knowing the info ppl ask for.

Go for it!!!! You’ll learn as you go and if someone ask you a question and you don’t have the answer just refer them to someone else. Labor and delivery openings are really hard to come by cause everybody wants to work in that department. So if there’s an opening just go for it and learn as much as you can while you are there!

I just enrolled in school for a RT and I’d like to get a job as a unit secretary/in a hospital. I have to go and get a certificate for this too? How do I get in?

You don’t usually need a certificate. Just a high school diploma. But it helps to get a medical administrator degree.

@@scarlettGu that’s what I thought but they’ve definitely been denying my job apps. The role is for PCT/unit secretary combo but I definitely have transferable skills too. I’m just about to do a quick phlebotomy course. Was gonna do CNA but I’m gonna do those same things in MA anyway..

PCT is similar to MA its more hands on where as unit secretary is more front desk/admin. For unit secretary you usually just need a HS diploma but PCT you need a certificate atleast. Hoping the best for you!
