Day two of seeding!

It's day two of seeding but that didn't come without its challenges. We spent quite a while changing out hoses that had holes in them!! But seeding is in full swing now!!

Its awesome how you get everyone in on things so everyone know how it works cheaper to show everyone once than to show everyone individually

If you got a bit of old tyre tube somewhere cut it up and wrap it round where it will rub through, cable tie it on and hopefully that will give it a longer life before it happens again. Great work, makes me really miss my two years in Australia!

I watch quite a few farmers based out of the US, stoked to find JH and the team showing how its done in WA. I grew up on a farm, can remember when we got our first air seeder in the mid 90's, was 40 foot if I remember correctly. These Bourgaults are something else! Hope seeding goes well 👍

Love the video's mate. Great to see a WA farm on here. If those hoses are a common problem see if your supplier can get plastic spiral guard for you and wrap the sections that rub. Should make them last a fair bit longer. Or make your own with some old hose and hose clamps haha

I'm really looking forward with excitement on watching the canola grow on those LONG LONG rows!! That seeder really covers a large swarth of ground in 1 pass. I also went online to read up on the Renegade TT. Looks to be a pretty good seed choice!!

Great video u should weld a plate on were it's rubbing and attached a pice off rubber to stop the pipes rubbing throw

love the content as a WA bloke i follow a few big farming streams on here advise i can give is watch your audio levels the fill misic is too loud compaired to the voice audio talk more about why you doing something, do shots of the seed going into the seeder close up slow mo delvope your peps dont be shy showing when it goes wrong lol

Hey JH, just started watching your vids, they’re great! Just wondering if there’s a reason you don’t run the wing caster tyres backwards?

So what we actually did last year was swap the tyres from the left to the right and vis versa. The reason was due to the subtle rash that was occurring on the tyres and we wanted to extend the life of the tyres so we switched them around

Interesting that WA is going back to OP canola. Is it still herbicide tolerant ? In Canada an OP canola called TT is usually triazine tolerant. Also , the mouse thing. I've seen video of mouse infestations but did not realize your fields needed protection. So much the same but so much different. Great info.

The canola we are planting is TT canola. But there are a lot of hybrid option out there now! And yer mice are a real problem if left untouched. They will go along the row and dig up the seed and eat it!!!

It started out when someone asked Dad if we did a uniform. This was also around the time that the mining sector of WA was having a big impact on safety and pushing other sectors to follow suit. So Dad landed on the high vis shirts! And they have stuck ever since which has been a good thing as its the first step to promoting safety in the work environment.

Why dont u make a spreader for mouse bait on the back of the air cart? My old boy has one on hes cart

It isn't a year in year out issue. We find it's easier to deal with in a spreader where you can load up 500ha at a time and go nuts on the paddock. The spreader on the bin is a great idea tho! A few farmers closer to the cost who deal with bad slug problems have done that and found it works wonders!
