Stunning vast scenery, it’s amazing how many miles you can actually travel after crossing the boarder into Scotland. Your commentary is brilliant. The 4494 just love it, fantastic story - you can hear in your voice how genuinely pleased and happy you are to own it.

Sounds like we was the same Olly when we was small. We had case burgess dealer Sealand Rd outside Chester I was always there looking around was just small field away from my house. They always had good collections of tractors, artic Case white (yes believe me) and axflow. Love case ih, lexions, and fendt 😍😍😍. Nice footage around Scotland with your family shame about weather.

Had a lovely road trip around Scotland with friends when I was younger, I really want to do the NC500 in my TVR someday. Hard to tell in the weather but based on location I reckon you were passing HMS Vulcan (the land based test facility for naval submarine reactors) and Dounreay (where we developed our experimental fast breeder nuclear reactors) when you mentioned about a power station.

There’s a little auction report in this months classic tractor magazine about the 4494 ant the versatile, I’ll send you a pic of it on Instagram when I get home. Savage machine, looking forward to seeing it beside a Quadtrac.

One of the farms I worked beside in the early 90's on the east coast of Scotland beside St-Cyrus (between Aberdeen and Dundee) only used Schluter tractors and you could hear them from miles away and they must have had the best sound, it's the only time I ever seen a farm using that brand but the farmer swore by them.

Torridon to John o Groats is a brutal drive in those conditions. Scenery would have been incredible...on another day. BTW, the industrial site West of Thurso is Dounreay nuclear power station.

Great video Olly.. Some fantastic scenery there..watch out for suicidal deer jumping out in front of you.. we have deer whistles fitted to our pick ups which are meant to deter deer from jumping out in front of the vehicles..they sort of work🤔..

If you did it in the summer the number of vehicles would drive you crazy, good time to do it even with the weather.

I had a 1985 case 2294. It had a 8.25 litre engine that sounded fabulous. The seat on it was original, very comfortable and believe it or not powered by the tractor hydraulic system. I often joked down the pub if it sprung a leak I'd be in big trouble. I would assume your 4494 would have had a seat like this when new.

Don't forget to put yourself on the Bateman birthday bumper on the 24th Jan, Olly. Mine is only ten days after your's. Scotland is beautiful but baron today. Chester is just into everything! Cracking video and amazing scenery. I always seem to be the nominated driver when I go any long distance with the wife so how did you manage to sit in the passenger seat? As for the engine rattle it sounds better than my Jaguar XF . All was going good with the vid till I spotted the 2cx airmaster,bloody tarmacers everywhere I look 🤣. That Case certainly has a presence,and a bloody big one at that. Chester is a proper little star and he loves the snow bless him. Enjoy the rest of your break and watch for the old deers crossing the road.

Two facilities you were looking at as you came into Caithness, the one with big yellow building is a nuclear submarine test facility and the other beside it is Dounreay nuclear power station both now being decommissioned. Big change of landscape in Caithness with a lot more arable land, if you make it to John O Groats you will pass the house at a little place called Gills bay 3 miles from John O Groats.

I've got dog walking clients who came from round there (now wrexham based) More relevant to the channel, some of their relatives owned a farm round there, but sold it off when the eldest son did not want to take it on.

The little bunkers on the island are old lime kilns. I was born and raised up in tongue.

Hope you called to the chip shop in Ullapool meant to be the best in Scotland remember going there many many many years ago when on holiday in Scotland as a teenager with the parents when they started doing the deep fried mars bar.

That Case is in a very good condition, and very important, it got very good rubbers. You dont want to buy a tractor like this and start with 4 new tyrees. I have looked on a few the same tractor, but the older white ones. Both had problems with crab steering, wich was not electric controlled. Expensive to fix, maybe not even possible to fix with parts and all.

We had a Burgess tractor dealers down here in Devon but they used to sell fiat

The north of Scotland is an epic place! Did you, or will you go to Dunnet Head? You need to go there as it's the most northerly point of mainland UK 🇬🇧 I found John-O-Groats to be a real disappointment 😕

When and how can I order a calander. I have only been to Scotland a few times delivering in a truck, but every time i have been there it rained, does it rain every day. Scotland is a beautifull place, recon I should take a holiday there. Chester seems to love the snow.

When my wife (also called Charlotte) was pregnant with our second child 14 years ago and we lived in Aberdeen, we did this exact road trip just starting in Aberdeen then across to Oban, then up to Loch Torridon (stayed at the Loch Torridon Hotel which is spectacular) and all the way around the top and back down to Inverness, before returning to Aberdeen… very spooky for me to see you doing this with another pregnant Charlotte. 85%.
