Matt, In the recent past, I started sharing some of your videos with my older brother. He loves KZfaq and your videos. He was quite the handyman and tinkerer such as yourself. I knew your mechanical inclination and love for classic heavy machinery would be right up his alley. This morning as I sat watching your new video particularly when you brought the haul truck in for its first load, I became very nostalgic. As kids, back in the '70's, we spent countless hours performing these very same tasks in miniature with our extensive fleet of Tonka Trucks. We probably moved (what we thought were) hundreds of yards of earth. About 15 years ago, he loved helping me work on my bigger toy, a Cummins Diesel powered M818 military truck. However, those days are but mere memories for me now. You see, in the early morning hours of this past Thursday and Independence Day, the 4th of July 2024, my big brother passed into eternal rest finally succumbing after a long fight to ravages of cancer. I learned a lot from his self-taught expertise and acquired a love for all things mechanical from him. Your videos will always offer me a connection to those great times we shared. His name was Tim and he was a great man and a fantastic big brother. May he forever rest easy...

Just remember Matt there are many many of us who have no toys at all who love watching you use your tools and equipment and are just as fascinated with what you call very basic stuff. It's just always a manly pleasure to see stuff done.

I love watching you. I'm 74 now and can remember working on the farm with my uncle. Everything we had was OLD.

Your doing a great job. My wife always asks why I have so many tools when she walks into my shop, I try to explain to her that if a man wants to get things done and be independent and save in the long run while have fun, you have a happy man, you must have tools.. And a Good Man is a happy man. Keep up the good work.

Matt, one thing I admire about your work is that you don't settle for "quick and dirty", but you take the time to do things right (or you explain why you didn't). You know the difference between what you want and what you see, and you know it matters. I have worked with plenty of "dirt workers" who don't know or don't care, and they take the path of least resistance, and the quality of their work suffers. Roads wash out, septic systems fail, foundations settle, and they always blame it on someone else, but the problem began with shoddy dirt work. I realize they have pressure on them to get a job done and get paid, which is probably less of an issue for you, and I know what it's like to get pushed to get more done in less time (and I hate it!). Our culture today puts too much emphasis on quick/quantity and too little on quality, in my opinion.

Viewers enjoy watching these videos because they like seeing Matt’s heavy equipment being used in the hands of a pro. I’m no expert, but it seemed every pass he made was on target and leading up to a result he could see in his 3D mind. No wasted motion. Can other operators shake the dirt out of tree roots? Not only does he have a long term vision for his roads, shop, house, pond and who knows what else he has for us in the future, but he can see exactly what he must move to get the material he needs today, and he grades the area correctly. Next he improves a short road that’s perfect short of guard rails. And he does all this ALONE. You gotta admire his vision and work ethic. Editing and photography: Time lapse on fire, speeding up sections to show faster progress, view from the dozer, other editing to keep our interest and is getting better every week. This keeps his thousands of followers liking and subscribing, Matt is entertaining, fun to watch.

Trees on Matt's land are in constant fear. "I wan't torn out for the container shop." "I wasn't torn out for the driveway." "I wasn't torn out for the borrow pit." "I wasn't torn out for the big shop." "I wasn't torn out for the laydown yard." "I wasn't..oh come on!"

I started watching as the container shop had been put up on that property and the few pieces of equipment you had always needed something repaired or messed with before they would start. Big props to the hard work and constant grinding over the years to get where you are today, and taking along us viewers to demonstrate that success can be measured in old iron and ingenuity as much as in any other form. Great channel, great format.

I like your editing trick with the dirt coming back to the dozer in the truck bed, and then disappearing at 33:45 :-)

After a couple of years of watching all your content from day one, you're on my list of top 5 KZfaq must watch channels.

You are right about us viewers. I know, for myself, I like to see the equipment getting used. The Kobelco is one of my favorites.

That steam show is great. Not a whole lot of steam but if you like old machinery that built the expressways in the 50's and 60's and before it's a fun day. Good food and a lot of like-minded people that could sit and watch old bull dozers and shovels work all day. I hope to make it out again. Great crowd for the spring show this year.

My favorite thing about Matt is his meme/troll capabilities. He knows for certain that someone will comment and complain about his culvert and road. Instead of easily picking up the “organic material” that breaks down over time, he’ll just have it in the next 5 shots of b roll.😂😅

You ever think about building a reservoir on your property? Some of those Hollers would make for killer lakes, probably up the property value substantially too no doubt.

After 30 years operating earthmovers on surface mines; everything from CAT D-8S TO 11s, TEREX Scrapers, even a RAYGO GIANT and I still sat here and watched Matt running that D41A for 45 minutes. Go figure.

I took the time away from other projects and life to build a backyard pond and waterfall at 6,800gph..... Best decision I've ever made! Now, after I work on those other projects, I have a wonderful place to relax!!! Again, best decision I ever made.

If you are building a pond. Suggestion: put some heavy boards in a frame so that you can regulate the level by taking out or add boards.

I was kind of surprised you didn't use the D8 but considering the amount of trees and other obstacles I understand. The haul trucks were a great investment but I would like to see the old International running again some day thanks for the video its my weekly treat

Can't wait to meet you. I have watched you attempt the impossible (reviving that church) bringing life to the undead (countless 30, 40, 50, even 80 years old) heavy metal. Now that you are going to be building a new house, you have GOT to get things done. As you have said, Happy Wife, Happy life. I am offering my time, expertise and body at no charge to you so that you may get everything you need done this Summer/Fall. I am retired, but still look forward to facing challenges (as I did in business" No Time, or No money in getting things done. My biggest and proudest accomplishment was getting a NYC Federal Court back in service after 9/11. I was able to get the court backup and running after one of the Towers had collapsed on it. I condensed a 2-year timeline to 6 weeks, and under budget. This morning, I put together an outline of the projects on your plate this Summer / Fall, without including any Richie Brother side trips. I listed the priorities to get you through the Summer while the house is being built, and set you up for the Fall / Winter to move ahead and make you profitable and still have a Happy wife. THE OFFER, coming to the Farm and staying over the Summer (Fall too if you'll have me) at NO Charge. I will pay my way for everything. You can use my services any way you see fit. Organizationally, advisor or just as a gofer. I may ask you questions about your plans, but don't need answers. They are just to get you to think about the options that are available. Hey matt! I used to Work for ADS, the company that made that culvert. They say that for most of those when you have equipment driving over them, you should try for 24in of material on top of it. That you have on 39:36 looks pretty good!
