Showing you how to remove and install a new tail light on a 1996-2002 model 3rd generation Toyota 4Runner. Its easy and straight forward. Here is what you need to do.
First off, the only took you need is a phillips head screwdriver. Then lift the trunk, locate and pull out the 2 screws on the side of the tail light housing. Use your palm to then push the light out away from the vehicle to remove it. Next, pull the light bulb wiring out from the wiring holding clips and then counterclockwise twist and pull the bulbs out from their slots. Take the new tail light assembly and place the wiring back into the 2 separate plastic clips on the tail light housing (make sure to get the wiring clipped in before fitting the bulbs in their slots so you know which slot to put each bulb back into). Once that is done, place the bulbs into their proper slots and twist them clockwise to tighten them down.. Then align the tail light back onto the truck with the 2 small metal posts located inside the light housing fitted into their slots. Then use your palm pushing the tail light towards the truck fitting it in place. Then use your screw driver to put the screws back in place (make sure the screw holes are aligned before tightening down the screws). Lastly, check to make sure the tail lights are working by pressing the break . You are finished at this point.
