In case anyone is wondering. That Archway building seen at 0:30 is still there; It's the actually the stage to an amphitheater. I moved here later in life and never knew it was *that* old.

I drove the beach in 1973 and 1974. I drove straight through from Maryland and got there dead tired. I parked on the beach at low tide and went to my room and crashed. Riding the glass elevator down later that afternoon it dawned on me that the beach had disappeared and realised my truck must be under water! Panicked I found my truck above the water line. Apparently it happens so often the city keeps towtrucks on patrol to drag vehicle away from the incoming tide. I was so relieved!

Absolutely unheard of today, and even if they did do it you'd pay out the ass for it.

@@s0nnyburnett yeah, I didn't see the procedure but the truck was locked with the trans in first gear and the parking brake set. They just hooked it and dragged it away from the water! No note, no bill, no nothing!

Many home cameras didn't have audio, like movie cameras, the audio would have been recorded separately - if at all.

Interesting! A beach where cars drive instead of people sunbathe and swim. Why was that? Anyone?
@hermitoldguy63123 жыл бұрын
False dichotomy. A beach where cars drive, AND where people sunbathe. (People don't swim on the beach.)

I don’t get it either. Instead of enjoying the sun and the wind and the water people stay in their stuffy cars. Why??
