Such a nice restore job. I bought a bright red/gray leather, t-tops, digital dash, completely loaded 1987 Daytona Pacifica brand new and it was a beautiful awesome car that I'd give anything to still have today. Hope you still have and enjoy yours!

I bought a 1989 Daytona new, ordered it from the dealer with every option available, It was the same color blue with a 5-speed. I bought it using a green slip from Chrysler, at the time they were discounted so my car sticker price was $14,400 but with the discounts I paid $10,954. Drove the car for 15-years 211,000 miles and sold it after the head gasket failed. The 5-speed performed flawlessly needing only one clutch. Also had to replace the cv joints once. But the car still had it's original working starter, alternator, radiator and even the exhaust was original. I drove it daily for 12 years after it was paid off, best car I ever owned.

I also bought the 89 Shelby new. Saw it come in on the car carrier truck and fell in love. Changed my mind at last minute from black to blue. I figured being a Carol Shelby it would be worth something. I was wrong. I did have some awesome memories in it and kept it 12yrs. I left the dealership and took it right up to 135 on the way home. My Mustang pals hated me cause I out drove them every time. I bought a turbo management computer for it and pushed 25lbs of boost into it. It was a beast. I did blow the engine being a dumb kid and had to re-do it. That car got awesome mpg if I remember. This guy sure did a major restore. I miss my Mopar.

Excellent job! Always good to see another G-24 body Chrysler get a proper restoration! Factory AC delete? Great find! That makes your car one of only 417 Daytona Shelbys built in that year without AC!

I had an '88 Shelby T-Tops, A/C delete that I bought through AAFES in Bamberg West Germany. After a few modifications, that car would run 150mph on the Autobahn, and kept up with the Big Bimmers! After 66,000 miles in 2 years and 14 countries in Europe, I shipped it to The States. I had it until '96 when it got totalled by a drunk driver (not me) while it was parked. Miss that car to this day!

One of the best real world restorationsI've seen. And with great editing. Takes me right back to 1989 when I was looking at buying my first brand new car at 18. Great job on the restoration, looks awesome. I bought a custom ordered Chrysler XE Turbo in 1984 with the digital talking dash and every option available. Loved that car. Did a little waste gate work and different tires/mags, disappointing a lot of 5.0 mustangs and late model camaros, 280z turbos and celica turbos, little car would eat their lunch all day long.

I bought one in 88 and I lost the key too it. It has been sitting in my garage since 1990. I just changed the ignition last month. Went through every inch of it and everything looks good. Oil change tune up. New tires. car runs like a dream. 18,756 miles on it electric blue t tops. also have a 2007 sv1000s with 2,000 miles and a 1985 chevy k30 with no rot and 40000 original miles. I will never sell these cars or give them away they will be crushed and sold for scrap when I die. I drive them once a month each and start them up once a week and change oil every 6 months. Jk on scraping them.
@chrislemaster26956 жыл бұрын
I remember back in the day I owned a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cirea back in 1998. I lost the keys to it I called the Oldsmobile dealer at the time in my area Green Olds and they made me a key off of the VIN number on the front windshield. I recently brought a 1987 Lincoln Continental did not have a trunk key called the Ford Garage and they made me a new one with the VIN Number all I had to do is show I was the current owner and it the cost was about 3.99 plus tax. This can be done on models with out a resistor or chip in the key or models with the OBD 1 computer 1995 on down.

Why would you destroy these cars and not give them to someone to enjoy for future generations, you sound like a selfish dick!

I was just talking with the wife the other day about getting a hold of one of these or an Omni. Take the drivetrain from a SRT4 and putting that in one of these beautiful cars. More then likely that has already been done but still a cool idea. Don't get me wrong I prefer stock over modified looks. A little boost in the power department is ok also. You sure did a great job here on your Daytona!!!

When I was a little kid my older sisters boyfriend got a brand new Dodge Daytona Pacifica. Driving it home from the Dodge dealership the electronic gauge cluster shut off. He owned car a little more then a year before having to get rid of it because it was always always fucking up somehow. The last issue he had before Trading it in was the back brakes kept locking up while driving highway speeds. Apparently it was a common problem for the 1987 Daytona but Chrysler didn't know how to fix it at the time. I was only 8 years old at the time but my mom had a brand new LeBaron GTS Turbo that was always back at the dealership getting repaired because it was equally a piece of shit. At one year and only 9k miles my mom had enough and ditched that piece of crap at the closest Toyota dealership and has driven nothing but Toyotas ever since. I remember my mom explaining to me that it was the last American car she was ever going to waste her money on. I know in the Northeast section of the u.s. the Dodge Daytona and Chrysler lasers we're prone to severe body rot but herein the southeast the bodies we're the least of their problems. Crappy little turbocharged engines would overheat chronically causing the head gaskets to blow. I honestly haven't seen a Dodge Daytona of any year here in Miami in at least 25 years. I saw a Hyundai Excel and even a Yugo about 10 years ago but I haven't seen any of the late 80s or early 1990s offerings from Chrysler since then.

Those were such beautiful cars back then. But the buying public still went for the v8 mustangs and camaros since they were the same price. But with the right driver these would beat even the iroc z. Dodge had the right idea as we moved out of the muscle car era of the 70's with turbo 4 cylinders but the v8 won in the end.
@TheGemini56 жыл бұрын
Released a bit too soon. It would wreck house if it were a bit later...especially when the gas was crazy high! They are still beautiful!

The story hasn't ended. We are probably heading towards smaller engines. Lot of 4 cylinder turbos now including the mustang and Camaro. Next gen Vette will have a smaller v-8 with turbos.
