More footage from the online Daytona USA games played on the 25th Nov. The number of players was chopping and changing constantly, but we did have a fairly consistent 8 - 7 for most of the games.
Quite a few games I did badly in, a few I did pretty well, so I'm obviously going to be cherry picking my best games for uploads.
For some annoying reason, I was really struggling to get the rocket start to work. I literally only managed it about 3 times in about 2 hours worth of games. The correct timing for when you take your foot off the brake on the 'GO' seems to have just evaporated from my brain...

has nobody tried the pit lane as a shortcut, or is it a gentleman agreement not to take it

Dale and I have got a sort code of gentleman's agreement not to take it (which is good, because I fuck it up most of the time), but normally doing it once in a game is deemed acceptable. I think other players tend to follow suit. Generally we _try_ not to play dirty (for example, I didn't intend to take Morty out, my car's apex was too wide going into the corner and he got between me and the wall), but I have _definitely_ intentionally crashed other players who've made me crash (accident or not) in previous games.

interesting! i do have another question about the rubberbanding, how fast does it let a player do a lap around three seven?

Just the same way you'd play any PS3 game online - there's no special techno jiggery-pokery going on or anything. I normally put an announcement out a week or two beforehand, normally via KZfaq and my Twitter, saying let's play some Daytona at this date and time and seeing who turns up (I only do this about once a year though, it's not a regular arrangement). If you just tried searching for an online game without trying to organise something beforehand, it's doubtful you'd find any other players though.

@@fursphere2 Apparently you can do online Daytona races using a PS3 Emulator now, but we're all doing it the old fashioned way here 👍
