My friends mom got proposed to when she wasn’t ready, it was public to, the guy did stand up so he did it at a pub during a show. She got down to eye level with him while smiling, put her hand on his cheek and said “I love you so much, but I’m just not ready yet.” Grabbed his hand, kissed him and got off stage. I have the video of it. It was all good. They got married a year after that :)) I think that’s a good way to deal with it

Honestly if someone proposed to me in front of a crowd like that, I'd say no too purely from anxiety. I don't think it's romantic to put someone in a situation where the pressure of everyone watching almost forces them to say yes.

Knew a girl in high school who knew how much her bf wanted a child. She said she was pregnant and he got so happy. Never seen this guy so happy and excited then she screams April Fools. Man I wanted to slap her on his behalf. Never seen a man visibly change emotions like that, like visible pain. He was so heart broken that I think he left school for the day. Didn't see him for awhile, poor thing. Surprised he didn't end it there with her.

I was proposed to at 8 by a 6 year old at a high school giving a Halloween event to kids and I freaked out. I ran away and hid in the teachers lounge at the school. I thought my life was over. I didn’t want to get married “I don’t want kids. I don’t want to get married”. I kept repeating while crying, eating pizza I found in the teachers lounge, by myself.

I slammed the doors and heard him in the gym (between the auditorium where we were and the teachers lounge) calling my name and looking for me. When I went home I cried to my mom about how I missed her and I don’t want to be taken. 😂
