When you showed Goober's outfit, the first thing that came to my mind was Goober's bad impersonation of Cary Grant..."Judy, Judy, Judy." It totally cracked me up to hear you whisper the same thing a second later!

W O W!! This was a wonderful step back in time! One really feels like you are in Mayberry! Beautiful town and greenery all around. Great to see so many of the characters and items preserved!! I did notice very minimal merchandise and memorabilia kept on “Opie”~ Ron Howard. Perhaps because he is still alive? Always just a joy to experience your hard work, research and your presentation. The vlogging is detailed, clear and interesting to learn so much the way you do it. Looking forward to more Mayberry ~ Mt Airy episodes to complete the story!!!

When I saw “A Face in the Crowd” years , I was conflicted. It was a great movie and Andy was superb, but I had to forget he didn’t just play Andy Griffith Show. I remember when he died and I overheard a couple of coworkers arguing. The supervisor comes over rolling his eyes saying, “These people don’t believe Andy Griffith from the show was also Matlock!” lol 😂

Lol, I just watched it recently. I had recorded it from TCM. I felt the same way when his character turns ugly. In fact, I actually had to rewatch it a couple of days later because I was distracted the first time. Really powerful performance, and story. Andy Griffith sure was an American talent! ❤️✌️

I worked at a high end jewelry store for a few years and one day an attractive older lady came in and asked if I could clean her ring for her. I said, of course, and she handed me a beautiful sapphire ring. It was gorgeous and very unique and, during the course of our conversation, she told me that she had gotten it as a gift many years before from a guest who stayed in her small, NC seaside boarding house. Who gave it to her? Andy Griffith!

This really is a legendary show and one of the best ever made. I have always been amazed at who did what after the show and also the spin offs like Gomer Pyle for instance. I love all the memorabilia they have of other projects of Andy. I thought it would just be stuff from the show.

Mr. Griffith almost had a tv comeback with Salvage 1 on ABC. It was a science fiction fantasy program. Issac Asimov was the technical adviser. 20 episodes were made plus a 2-hour pilot movie. The movie dealt with Mr. Griffith's character (a Salvage Yard Operator) getting the idea to build a rocket from parts he was hired to cart away from the Air Force. He and his staff built or refurbished all the equipment needed for the mission from the materials on hand at the Salvage Yard. Once he built the rocket he and his assistances flew it to the moon to SALVAGE Items left behind from the Apolo missions. ABC scheduled Salvage 1 against WKRP in Cinncinatti and Little House on the Prarie which is why only 20 episodes were produced. Someone uploaded all episodes to Dailymotion.

So happy you got to see all of this!! :D Andy's dad made an appearance on one episode co.ing out of the store in The Farmer Takes a Wife I believe? Where Alan Hale, Jr./ Jeff Pruitt comes to town looking for a wife but, sets his sights on Thelma Lou who unfortunately passed away recently after living in Mt. Airy for a number of years. I love going up there but, never got to go to Mayberry Days, even though it's always around my birthday in September lol. Did you ever see the Matlock episode "The Lemon" where Don Knotts buys a DeLorean? Classic. Btw, the Matlock steps in Wilmington where he comes down in the intro lead straight into the water. :D Love these!!!

What a great video. Andy and Don Knotts knew from their own lives what small town life was like, and it helped make the program so genuinely authentic. BTW, Andy Griffith was born the very same day as Marilyn Monroe---June 1, 1926.

Hair - perfect - just up! List of what a total bachelor does for the day: List - Put on my Pants - Button my Pants - My Coffee - etc etc! What a great video! All a bachelor needs (yes, I know about Amy) back then is a Dog, a Job, A Cup of Coffee, a Bachelor pad (decorated like you are still in college) - Niffty Tee Shirts - I am only joking. You should see that video again!! It's so funny!

When my mom worked at Universal Studios in the 1960's, one time while being there with her, she said , "you can go open that black file cabinet and pick out autographed pictures of actors you like". I was about age 10. I picked a signed autograph of Andy Griffith, and the Adam-12 stars "Malloy & Reed". Unfortunately they are long gone! I still have pics of my mom kissing a life-size cardboard cut out of Adam 12's "Malloy". I like making copies of that and giving them to policemen, with the caption "We love our cops", and enjoy seeing the officers chuckle at that.

I got to hang with Andy in Menlo Park where I worked in Earth Sign Health Food Store. In 1975-76. His wife was at Stanford Hospital for Cancer. He came in to buy health foods for his wife. There was a torrential storm...which forced him to stay longer. We talked about health, vegetarianism, etc. I was a big fan...still am.
