Slight correction... he didn't pay off the 93 accuser to make it "go away". The reason was wrapped up in California law. The case was a civil suit (Evan Chandler, the accuser's father wanted a cash settlement) not a criminal suit as most people think. A criminal trial was expected to be attempted. In order to defend himself in a civil trial, Michael would have to lay out the defense he would use in a criminal trial in the civil trial, which would allow the prosecution time to tailor their entire case to fit. It's like handing the other side your playbook. This is no longer legal in the state of California. The law was changed shortly afterwards. There was really no choice in the matter but to settle the case with the payout Evan Chandler wanted, because defense in a criminal trial is more important. Thankfully, the judge was savvy to what Chandler was doing, and put the entirety of the payout in a trust for Jordan so Evan couldn't have access to it. A criminal trial was attempted twice (both 2 grand juries failed to indict Michael) and Jordan Chandler, the accuser, refused to participate. He later went on to confess to his college classmates (see the documentary Square One) that nothing untoward ever occurred with Michael and that he was forced by his father to participate in the civil trial. Really messed up situation.

Jordan, i know it is widely believed that Diane Ross discovered the Jacksons and got them a deal at Motown, but if you look a little deeper into your research, you will find out that Bobby Taylor (of Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers) is the person who discovered them and took them to Berry Gordy at Motown, and got them signed. Taylor even produced their music for several years. This headline is from Billboard Magazine, but references Rolling Stone Magazine. "Bobby Taylor, the singer and producer who discovered The Jackson 5, has died at the age of 83, according to Rolling Stone magazine."
@kimsinclair9100
@kimsinclair9100 2 жыл бұрын
True. Diana Ross was just a well-known singer at the time that Barry Gordy felt would help get the Jackson’s attention if he said she discovered them. She had nothing to do with their discovery. Michael did live with her for awhile once they moved to LA and they became very close lifetime friends. She exposed him to art and he became a magnificent artist too.

Growing up with the Jackson 5, I always feel so sad with everything that happened to most of them in later life. Joe Jackson was f'in evil and exploited and abused ALL those kids, especially Michael. I think Michael did experience physical abuse, but most damaging was the psychological and emotional abuse he faced from his father. IMO, any problems Michael had can be traced back to Joe Jackson.

I agree. I'm still stunned by Joe's abuse which Michael, especially, had suffered through, and his brothers.
@nessaj4522

People say that. But Joseph is who they all depended on. He was always at their shows. When you see Michael or his brothers they would tell about the whippings they got but would remind us we all got whipped but they also told us how they loved Joseph. At the end of the day though if he was so terrible they all wouldn't have been at his funeral. They were all there together I saw the whole thing through a family member. It was very peaceful. I'm sure Michael would have been there too. They all including his daughter that took pictures Johvonnie she held his hand before he died. Anyway she helper keep the rumors about him out of the media. She wrote a book. Called " Bastard Child" and she was on tv with it. This book talks about how she grew up and how she got along with the family. It was rocky in the beginning until her mother died and Mrs. Jackson was hurt for a while 25 year secret yes you would be. Anyway Mrs Jackson and her sister Rebbir helped bury her mother. They all became very close before Joseph died. So those rumors were desolved. Infact Janet did her last SOTWT in our town and it was just after Joseph died and she stopped the show to talk about Joseph just like her brothers did. They said they really couldn't go on withour Joseph because he was always there supportung them. The children won't lie. They all loved him. Janet said Randy talked her into that show she did because Joseph would want her to go on. I got those same kind of beatings myself when I was a kid. Now as far as them calling him Joseph that's what I didn't understand. Still I thought it was cute in a way but maybe he wanted them to feel like he was more of a business man. They only knew. Still the results of how all the children and family were there for him at his end speaks for a lot. Rip him and his brother Luther he was a very nice man with wonder children. He just passed this year. Mjever.

@@PropertyandCasualtyAgent Good shot!! People have to really look between the lines of all of this hollywood rumor stuff and look into how the whole family felt about King Joseph!! People always want to bring a great person down. Yes even Michael said he just told some stories because it was a Hollywood thing. He told the real truth like his sibblings did for people that wanted to hear their true feelings. They loved that man and when you protect who you love most then people will try to sabotage it. I hear the real family talk about him now, they can barely go on without seeing him sitting there watching them perform and giving them the " Let's Go Ahead."" People only hate Joseph through those fake stories they heard not because they knew or met the man and I bet they couldn't tell him how bad he was to his face. All of these years and he had theeee perfect set of children!! Even the one he had on the side that the family loves now. You have to look at the results. The true results. They all buried him together and held his hand in the end. The very end with the whole family together. We can't get any better than that. Rip beautiful ones.

Discovered by Gladys Knight first, then a year later by Bobby Taylor. Motown (Berry Gordy) ultimately said Diana Ross because she was the bigger name (and close to Mr.Gordy) so she got the credit. The house has definitely been upgraded. If you went by there in the eighties and nineties, you would have never known it was their house. The first time I saw it, I thought it was a garage. Michael visited the area once in the late nineties or early two-thousands, but at the height of their careers the Jacksons seemed to want nothing to do with Gary, Indiana. I think now they are aging, and the city cleaned this house up, they are a little more involved. It's cool they finally preserved it, but Gary is a dangerous mess of a city. Thanks for the great videos as always, Jordan.

Hey inside and out that would have been nice if that house had been that pretty. Hardly anybody until Michael died actually knew this house existed. Glad I saw the original so we can visualize how they really came up. Even the school looked better. Look like they could just jump the fense and get to the school. I loved hanging out with the family there in between 2009 just before Michael passed away untill 2016. It was a great time giving back. As far as that haunting they just staged that because they wanted the people to move out. So they could tare the houses down. They own those other houses. Yes everybody left. As we visited it each year something different happened to the neighborhood untill it was just the Jackson house there. Also people should know all of the streets were named after The USA presidents. Joe just happened to move on Jackson street. Meaning Andrew Jackson.

They own both houses there now. So you can't just show off that little house. This wasn't the original look before Michael passed and I'm glad I was there before Michael died. Before they flipped it. It's beautiful how they did it over but it wasn't as magical as it was when it looked like the original house did in the 1900's. No gates or nothing like that and people would just come see it. The Brothers told us tons of stories that went on in that house. Only we didn't know they had cousins all over Gary and they had way more famiily and friends when they came up. So they had family to practice music with too. In fact it was their uncle Luther, that taught Tito how to play his guitar. We should have known how they actually lived. They later moved somewhere close to that house off Chicago before they went to L.A. Haven Hurst.

Summer 1970, Whiting, Indiana (lilly white neighborhood 20 miles northwest of Gary). We grew up on Motown and the Chi-Town recording labels (and rock of course). Hanging out on a Saturday afternoon in this small town, kids walking the streets, we heard a really cool sound coming from the playground of the local school. It was all fenced-in, but we could hear and see this group called THE JACKSON 5. Admission was $5, but no one had it, so we all watched through the fence. SUMMER 1972 - JACKSON 5 was now playing all the AM stations and they were going to do their first Chicago concert at the Aire Crown Theater at McCormick place. Tickets were $5. Now we could afford it. GREAT CONCERT.

That area is SUPER sketch, went there at dusk and luckily my instincts were on point that day, I saw a group of people get out of a car with Indiana plates to take pictures with the house (nothing odd there) but I couldn’t help but notice they were staring at my friend and I from the corner of their eyes almost sneakily watching us. I told her we should bounce and as we were getting in the car the older man with them got angry and started yelling at the people with him to hurry up and was pointing at us, everyone started running towards our car and I turned the car on and sped off. Taking random turns really fast down the streets until I was sure no one was following us. I pulled over, checked my gas levels and realized we had enough to get back on the highway.. on to the next location. It wasn’t something that shook me to bad but I’m still convinced we were seconds away from something bad happening.

I went there back in January of 2017 and got yelled at by a neighbor who lived on another street because I was trying to photograph the back of the Michael Jackson monument. Shortly after, a guy came up to me asking for 30 cents. Fortunately, nothing bad happened. I walked around the entire neighborhood by myself. Nothing scares me and I think that these people knew that.

Thank you Jordan for this video clip, and those beautiful remarks about Michael, it was beautifully said. I remember during the live memorial service at the Arena for Michael I heard Marlon mention to Michael to tell Brandon that he loved him. So, I did some research and I found out that Marlon & Brandon were born several weeks premature, and Brandon ended up with a respiratory failure within the 24 hour after birth, how sad. Michael not just dealt with his nose, but when his scalp got burnt that also affected him BIG TIME! The way his pain was handled I didn't like it at all, By the way Jordan, I want to wish you and Jah, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Athens, Greece🎄⛄

I was born in Gary in 1961 been passed the house hundreds of times. A large monument that was about 5ft tall is missing, you can see the spot where it used to be in the front yard. If you go 2 or 3 blocks in any direction away from there you will be in a dangerous part of Gary where you can find trouble you don't want. I'm 60yrs old there's not a part of Gary that I haven't been in. But if you want to see Michael Jackson's house you have to go through it.

When I was a weird kid growing up in the 80’s I was a fan of Michaels when I was in Catholic school, 3rd - 6th grade. I had Michael buttons on my tie. As a teen I fell in love with Metal. Anyway, I think Zak is a charlatan of the paranormal. I think he’s just trying to make a buck off of it. With my small amount of knowledge about the paranormal and doing investigations I know one thing, show it a bit of respect, which Zak doesn’t. He’s trying to mimic the Warrens but at a grander scale. Zak just wants fame and fortune.

Fantastic coverage of MJs childhood home. When there is a lot of severe abuse in a home towards a child, those effects can run deep. I think probably the verbal abuse hurt Michael more than the physical because he struggled his whole life with not being ok with himself. A child's mind can become extremely confused and into adulthood. Imagine also the fame aspect that comes into play. Famous his whole life which of course fame is a different animal, how could he have ever found his true self. His creativity was probably the one thing that saved him and he found comfort in. whether or not he ever did those things to those kids, I honestly think that if he did, that he did not know what he was doing because of the mental confusion. We will truly never know about those allegations. I hope that in someway in the end he was able to come home to himself and love himself.

I have lived in Indiana all my life, Gary Indiana is the worse place ever to live. a LOT of crime and violence there, im sure the landscape didnt look like it does now when the Jackson Family lived there. But now its a very Beautiful place. which is hard to find anything beautiful in Gary Indiana. They really made it big!! Michael and the rest of them made Indiana proud as entatainers, R.I H Michael. I know there was a lot of contraversy about his life, but as far as entertainers, they made Indiana very Proud!! Thank you for the music Jackson Family!! ♥

Zak Bagans makes me laugh. He will say that any house has demons in order to get his 15 minutes of fame. Katherine Jackson still owns 2300 Jackson St and has been associated with the property for almost 72 years! The house was built in 1949. I've been there once and didn't really get any creepy vibes while walking around and taking pictures. However, I haven't gone inside. All I know is that the family rented the house out to a relative of theirs for a certain number of years. After Michael Jackson's departure, it was vacant before Katherine redecorated the place, fixed it up and started going back there for visits.

One of our greatest humanitarians. Suffered from discoid lupus, and vitiligo, and had many surgeries on his scalp from the horrific burn from the PEPSI commercial. He had to have saline balloons placed under his scalp to stretch the healthy skin. I cannot imagine the pain this man endured. Emotionally and physically. This world was too cruel, too greedy, and racist for such a kind human being. Wade and James tried and failed to prove Mike harmed them in any way. SIX times. Their cases have been thrown to the curb six times. Where are all of the other "Victims" that were supposed to come forward after Leaving Neverland aired? Crickets... That monstrosity was just kiddie porn cloaked as a Documentary. The whole saga disgusts me and breaks my heart. Mike, you helped so many people. Your legacy is intact.
