DBR: Speeding Up Leaf Clean Up With A Husqvarna H34648 Bagger (Collection System)

When you have a few trees in the front yard and a woods in the back yard, leaf clean up can be time consuming. We already had a fleet of leaf blowers, but wanted to try to speed up the process a bit. So we invested in a 9 bushel bagger assembly for our Husqvarna YTH24K48 lawn tractor. This bagger is easy to assemble, has 3 bins, and was something we plan on getting a lot of use out of. We purchased or new H34648 (960730037) bagger right before the MSRP was raised on them so it made this an even better deal. We didn't waste any time putting this collection system to use here at the Dirty Buffalo Ranch and a few other places. Now for us, adding this bagger made perfect sense and is a great addition to our leaf blowers. But for some of you, a collection system like this might be the better choice for if you are looking to get the most out of your money.

AGREED! I did a $600 leaf removal job today with my Husqvarna 48 inch lawn tractor with the $400 bagger I bought at Lowes in an hour and a half. Freaking kicked ass man!

It is a HUGE time saver! We love our backpack blowers for the flower beds and stuff, but after the leaves are out in the open this set makes the clean up much easier.

@@DirtyBuffaloProductions My Grandpa (rip) was a lifelong farmer/soldier. He was a bit of a mad scientist when it came to engineering better methods of getting his work done around the farm. Every year when he would pull the cattle off of the wheat we'd have to roll up approximately 4 miles of hot wire (electric fence). He would lift the ass end of his little 185 Massey fergusson tractor of with the scoop and chain from him 4230 John Deere, take one wheel off the Massey Fergusson, and wind the wire back onto the spool by just putting the tractor into drive, then after it was completely rolled up (this is now a giant spool of metal that must have weighed 1500 weighed 1500 lbs, he would grab the spool with the baling spike on the pick up and CAREFULLY transport it back to the barn. He always had a saying that "sitting down work beats standing up work any day of the week". I think that came from 33 years in the army always having to stand at attention and march in formation.

I looked at the Husqvarna and John Deere my budget was $3,500 well I actually went with the Craftsman T240 I fist found this incredible Machine for $3,000 at a tractor store my brother in law Called and said he found that same Mower at Lowes for $2,300 I went to Lowe's instead this machine comes with a 46 inch 12 gauge reinforced steel deck the Frame is a 10 gauge steel frame not bolted together the Engine is the Kohler KT725 22 horsepower 725cc V Twin the transmission is the Tuff Torq hydrostatic K46 heavy-duty their are different versions of the K46 it's not one size fits all like some think the front Axle has a thick Cast iron front the Tractor actually weighs 620 pounds according to a craftsman Rep not 590 as lowes advertised its 6 feet long by 4 feet high this machine is incredible and built like a brick house...it also has a 5 inch turn just shy of a Zero Turn

I just got a TS242XD to replace my 2010 model. I had been mulching my lawn for past 10 years. I also have been dealing with leaves every fall... we have lots of trees and therefore lots of leaves. I have used a pull behind raker but doesn't work very well and then I end up with large piles of leaves to deal with. I have even tried to mulch them but last fall was real wet. I decided to go bagger this time for my new unit - got the 2 bin bagger $385 CAD. I tried it first time today to mow lawn and am surprised how much grass it picks up and makes me wonder where all that grass went before when mulching LOL. Anyways I am thinking it is going to work out great in fall dealing with leaves. I am also getting a new snowblower attachment and the Husqvarna winter cab which I think looks nice.

The tractor mounted snow blowers from Husqvarna are great! Used one of them in some deep snows a few years back and they had no problem tossing the snow high and far! Your grass will be much healthier now that you are bagging because all those clippings won't be piling up on the soil and stopping moisture from getting in.

I paid $600 on this same system. I’ve set it up properly but it is NOT collecting grass. I make sure to keep it clean as well.

Make sure that your tractor doesn't have mulching blades on it. That will definitely cause it to not work

Thanks for the clear view on the construction. Just ordered mine. Question on your mower: what kind of deck do you have installed? With 2 or 3 blades? And did you need to replace the blades? Thanks!

Ours is a 48 inch mower deck. It has 3 blades. We were already using high lift blades on it so we did not have to change the blades.
