Both of you are right, Trayon White comes across as a Marion Barry type(who he mentioned during the debate) who really wants to help the community that he came from. I've heard him speaking about problems in D.C.(youth crime, low quality groceries in poorer parts of D.C., gentrification, etc) through the years and you can see that he's experienced and overcome a lot of the obstacles that D.C. residents face. The other 2(especially Bowser) seem like people who are in politics because it affords them a nice lifestyle and fame!

DC needed reconstruction & renovations but the new developments are over 1 million dollars.... basically rent is $2500 or more for a 1br apartment and is income restricted, let alone there isn't much income based housing for lower/middle class. Now all of these businesses are not interesting to "minorities"... she sold this city out to gentrifiers

Like saying, "what are 'you people' complaining about?" Absolutely not, the fact is most of the development is to gentrify Blacks out - and Whites in. The housing development in this city is unfair, biased, and caters to the milli, genZ, techy, rich, predominately transports. Most retired older adults here are unable to afford safe, decent housing now in DC. No complaint, this is fact. Development? Yes, without discrimination. Development? Yes, with fair housing, pricing across the board for everyone, and no redlining. But that wouldn't make money for the city leaders and developers who may be greasing each other's palms.
