I served in the US Navy, and my first squadron had TA-4J and A-4E aircraft. This community mod team nailed this jet. Inside and out, it's accurate with the cockpit, the systems, the startup process, and weapons capabilities. Not sure why ED hasn't added this to the official release, unless it's some legality that prevents it. Anyways, get this mod. You won't regret it.

As far as I've read around, it is the mod creators that have decided that they want it to stay as a mod. I guess you can always ask them directly.

Easily one of my top 3 modules in DCS...the sheer amount of weapons/missions/capabilities this "free" mod is able to simulate is outstanding! Literally every DCS pilot should have it in the Hangar. I think the community needs to demand more of the server operators to have these birds on the servers for use, its awesome and a good place for most to start in the world of full fidelity without expense. The creators deserve a massive thanks for enriching the community with their solid hard work!

This gave me a love for the A4. It's said that for servers to allow this mod, they need to compromise security. And a few months ago, almost a year, the GR server was actually hacked by a SU25T user who had godmode.

@@The_Radio_Check at 1:10 that scene of the A-4s attacking the frigates looks exactly like a real scene from the falklands where Argentinian Daggers and A-4s attacked British frigates and ships sitting at the San Carlos Bay. @@getsideways7257 Caucasian map or not, that scene is an exact copy of the San Carlos real attack scene. I wasn’t really discussing the Falkland map or not, but rather the scene and what it depicts (the different theatres on which the A-4 were used extensively).

@@_RAF_SkyRider_ There's a way around it but the mission maker/server just has to delete the "required mods" part of the mission file. Players without the mod just see a Flanker.

Had a little tinker, loving the Kiwi skins, bringing back some fond memories of these over the skies of NZ coming out of Ohakea etc. Nice job on this one chaps, congrats on the mod's move forward, incredibly well done, and the aircraft slots into a nice niche.

What an amazing trailer for an amazing mod. This really blurs the line between professional and professionals with free time :) I love the A4, I spent a ton of time learning IMC, tacan and the basic nav computer to the degree the red flood light of an otherwise pitch black a4 cockpit is comfort food.

this is exactly what we need. If ED can't see that if the community puts effort into making it, that it should be embraced by them, then they are doomed to fail. The best way to keep this game alive is to take mod makers seriously, and embrace modules that reach a level of professionalism as this. I can't wait to fly this version soon. 1.0 was already amazing...

Whenever I met new people wanting to try out DCS, I always recommend them getting the A-4 community mod before they start spending money first to see if DCS is their thing. Highly detailed, easy to learn and a lot of fun. It's the perfect gateway drug into DCS

I don't know if it is just childhood memories, but I love all the navy aircraft of that period. A4 Skyhawk, F4 Phantom, A7 Corsair, A6 Intruder, eventually the F14 Tomcat.

Man, I really wish this could be picked up by ED, and made into an official, FREE, full fidelity module. DCS needs a free and relatively simple full fidelity aircraft to spark the interest of new-comers to the game/simulation.

Awesome video. I deleted the A-4 a few months back when ED’s patch had the game freezing and crashing every other flight. They encouraged people to delete third party mods to fix the problems. Did nothing. May have to pick this back up!

Every server should host the a4 to force everyone to install it. It’s easily the best Cold War plane in dcs and it’s free. For real can more servers host it?

The thing I heard against allowing mod planes on servers is that it can easily be abused by someone using an older version of the mod and abusing its spaceship-like flight model.

There is currently no system in place to force specific versions of a mod on the server, therefore someone with a older version could come in, and it's even possible to change the parameters on the mod planes on a live server and make it faster, stronger etc. That's why it's not on a lot of servers cause it's a security risk.

@@-Nero.- so? Host it. I doubt you’ll find cheaters in the dcs community. It’s so small already. If not ban people. But Ed integrating a freemod loader with integrity checking would be nice.
