IN THE CASE OF THIS ENGINE DAMAGE. THERE IS NO MUCH TO REPAIR OR TO REUSE MANY ENGINE COMPONENTS. THE BEST SOLUTION TO A SIMILAR PROBLEM WILL BE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE WITH A USE OR REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE BLOCK WITH CRANKSHAFT.

The only way to stop a runaway engine is to starved it. And DD15 is one the easiest to do so. You see that fuel/water seperator? The cap on top and purge valve in the bottom.

If you have a runaway engine it’s because it is getting fuel other than diesel being fed into the combustion chamber. Cutting the diesel will only cause your fuel pump to run dry and damage itself because it is gear driven if engine doesn’t stop it won’t stop engine will keep running by oil being fed by turbo. You have to cut off air to turbo at the air filter housing to choke turbo out or cut air/ oil supply to engine by removing one or the boots then engine will idle back down which now you could turn off or cut the diesel at the water separator like you said because now you have eliminated the alternative fuel first.

Because Of The Fuel/Oil mixture, the oil pan should have be removed, inspected and cleaned before adding new oil, as well the oil suction components, oil pump ETC. 🤔
