I think it's safe to say that Dom wildly exceeded everyone's expectations. I thought he was gonna tag with Rey for a while and then they'd have a story where Rey gives him his mask and then he'd slip down the card. Involving the JD, pairing him with Rhea and him wrestling his own style was a genius move
@sebulbathx
@sebulbathx 9 ай бұрын
I agree. I thought he was going be a "mascot" for Rey and then get one storyline and then disappear but even if he would continue he would live off his name. Seeing I was wrong I think he is really good and his character works and he isn't a copy of Rey which I thought he would be. He does his own thing in a good way.

@@natebaxter9551Totally agree. Still being Reys son I don't think a flying style would suit him. Especially being heel at the moment but even as a face he shouldn't fly more. One or two flying moves is good to have as a moments but a more regular style fits him better. I think being a copy of his dad would only make him a disservice because he would become even more Reys son and not his own character.

Back in WCW, Eddie was a real heel. Audiences hated him. Not like in WWE, where he was a "heel," but despite the lie / cheat / steal gimmick, audiences still loved him hardcore. Dominick and Vickie Guerrero have both honored the real heelness that Eddie was once the master of.

10 years from now. Dom is fighting Roman Reigns for the Universal Belt. Dom is by himself, JD is gone, Rey retired, Rhea doing other things. The Uso boys come out. Beat on Dom. Out from under the ring Finn comes out with Priest. “You were there for us brother, we got your back.” The Rock comes out with a mic starts calling for the bell, Rey hits him with a chair. Takes the mic “you’re still my son, and I got you the BMW.” Roman looks like he’s going to win. Chaos everywhere. Then a hooded figure appears and spears him. Dom covers. Wins, it’s MamÍ. They all hug Dom. Rey joins the Judgment Day. Finn still has yet to get gold.

It's not heat when the crowd is in on the joke. Heat is something natural, not something a crowd plays along to. Wrestling has changed so much, it's nearly impossible for someone to get real heat these days because every fan knows it's just a show. Crowds don't just Boo heels and cheer babyfaces anymore. They cheer what they like and boo (legitimately) what they don't regardless of status. Dom is a rare case where he has a "thing" and the crowd loves to play along to it. He's not getting "heat" because people don't hate him. People just know "this is the thing you do when he puts that mic to his lips".

Dom has been absolutely amazing, it’s sucks he’s getting more and more fans lol The fact he’s this level and just had 3 years under his belt is insane. His trajectory has been similar to The Rock when he started as Rocky and then joined The Nation. He probably won’t reach the same heights unless his promo ability becomes astronomical but he is definitely going to be a big part of WWE’s future. See him around the same heights as Edge or better when all is said and done. Still wish he “retired” Rey at mania by winning and ripping off his mask. Feel like that did nothing for Rey and could’ve been much more huge for Dom. Rey could’ve still done what he’s done this year being maskless as a managerial role for the new LWO. Dom would’ve just had more heat if he wore his fathers ripped off mask as a trophy rather than a luchador.

He‘s getting heat not because he is such a great heel, but because he actually sucks. Examples, to name a few: His wrestling skills and athleticism are mediocre (at max), no one with a sane mind buys the role he plays, his micwork has horrible timing and accentuation… Let‘s face it, if it wasn‘t for his father, he wouldn‘t even make it to Impact Wrestling, let alone WWE. Well, good for him and obviously it works, because better bad heat as a bad reaction than no reaction at all. And it’s understandable that DDP certainly wants to protect his connections to the WWE. But saying Dominic is a great heel…that‘s putting shame on all the great heels in history, like Roddy Piper, Ric Flair, Triple H, Randy Orton…

I would take DDPs opinion over yours any day. DDP was a heel before he did that swerve on Hall and Nash, so he knows what he is talking about. You don’t.

@meangravy9286 @andrewft31 Well, I am just a fan with a very clear expectation of good athleticism and mic work. So yep, I don't settle with Dominic when looking for a great heel and rest my case, without Rey, he wouldn't have made it even to Impact. But that's the fun part, we are talking opinions here. For me his segments / matches (if it's with someone I am not very interested in either) are a pee-break. But if you like it, good for you.

Idk how some of these retired legends still watch wrestling. It’s just a PC family show now it’s nothing like what they were a part of
