Logan Barrett I've never been charged by a rhino, but i have been charged by bulls and many horses...they dont even compare to an intent shepherd. I think I'll take my chances with the rhino cause the dog is alot faster and never misses...

These are great teaching videos. And I love German shepherd's when my daughter was a baby of about eight months old, our German shepherd taught her to walk. I was fixing dinner for my husband and had my daughter on a blanket in the next room. I heard her laughing and went to investigate, she would grab our dogs fur and when the dog stood up our daughter would stand and walk with Brandy(dogs name,) when my daughter would sit down, Brandy would lay down beside her and off they would go again. Too cute. I wish we would have had cell phones with cameras back then but I'm a great grandmother now , thus on the older side

If i ever get a dog( and have kids) I would get a German Shepard to keep my child safe. Also, are German Shepards usually trained like this because they're the best at it than any other kind of dog?

Not necessarily. Many dogs have the capacity to do what Cujo was doing. German Shepards are fast learners, and tend to be fast, and are generally intimidating, but that doesn't mean a Golden Retriever couldn't do the same thing. Usually hunting dogs and guard dogs train faster, so in this case a German Shepard was used. In some practices I have seen, they used Pit Bulls, Dalmatians, or even Retrievers. Hope this helped!

Rottweilers, German Shepherds are the way to go for that. In fact its either Rottweilers or Pit Bulls that have the jaw ability to break bones. Getting one of these would definitely make a criminal think twice about their actions. Or a chihuahua those are horrifying XD

Plump Pilot There is a reason that they don't train Pits for this type of defense. It is not that the dogs are aggressive, but through breeding they have a weakness of mind in that once they attack, it is difficult to train them to let go, because they have been bred for toughness and strength. Shepherds, Rots and Dobies, working dogs in general, are bred for intelligence primarily, followed up by good body condition, and their strength and durability are less important.

unrealuknow That's true. Most Pit Bulls will fight to the death and/or until the person is seriously injured. This could result in a lawsuit. Usually, when people are looking for a defense/guard dog, they look for one that will bite and scare the person.

what was the command for the dog to start attacking? maybe i missed something, but it seems to me he jumped out of the car the moment the 1st kidnapper went towards the girl. he allready was in motion when the girl called him. so how can you make sure the dog does not attack someone who just wants to ask the girl for directions?

What if the dog has learned to attack the trainers and bite them in their protected arm only, what would happen in a real sitation with a stranger? I have had one 130 lb Shepard and currently have a 120lb pound German Shepard named captain and both were very protective. Captain goes into alert when he hears any yelling. I would highly recommend German Shepard to anyone with kids. I also have a pit bull and he's the best too but can't protect for shit, big wimp lol German Shepard are thee best companion dog and can also do their job to protect their family.
