I love how Logs is such a good portrayal of a shy gay guy. There are hints of him being interested, but he's not overly open with it. So it's scary that you might misinterpret the signs of him just being friendly.

Seeing these two guys together as a gay couple represent positively not only makes me happy, but the fact Logs is Vietnamese makes me more happier! Being that I rarely see Vietnamese characters and having them be LGBTQ+ on media

Honestly I feel like Dead End’s lgbtq rep is a mixed bag with these guys. On one hand it’s really nice to have a mlm crush and relationship portrayed like how a typical hetero crush arc is portrayed in shows like this. It also does highlight the struggles that lgbtq people face in today’s not so accepting world. We may have made progress in being accepting of everyone but we still have a long way to go. On the other hand there’s nothing about it that really makes it stand out it feels really “by the book” and “cardboard token” like I wish we got to know more about Barney and Loges as individuals and what their personalities are like. When I think about Barney’s defining traits all I could think about is him being a good lgbtq rep in media. That’s it. While sexuality is a big part of your identity it shouldn’t be the defining characteristic of someone. And characters are supposed to represent people not cardboard tokens. So yeah this show’s rep is good but I feel like it could be better. Hopefully if the show gets a second season we could learn more about Barney and Loges and see their relationship progress because credit where it’s due they are adorable together!! 💞
