LMAO! This IS pretty good quality for '80. People didn't have camcorders yet. All bands unless on TV looked like this or worse. Is a shame but was lucky enough to see them & tons of others live. The good old days before bands were fenced off a block away. Was $2-5 to get in too.

It was recorded by Target Video, who recorded a lot of the Dead Kennedys performances (a few of which were eventually compiled into the Early Years Live tape)

Now that I'm older (laughter), I thought for sure I'd look back at this stuff and say "what the fuck was i thinking?". Instead, I pull out my axe (74 les paul) and start playing along in front of the computer while my lady shakes her head and thinks i have mental problems. those were some crazy good times....

Jello Biafra was and still is the Dead Kennedys,I won't go and see them as they are now as it wouldn't be right,but I could listen to Jello in a spoken word show for hours,his songs say so much,the rest of the band are just guys with weird pseudonyms and a cool sound but that's all,Jello is the spirit!!

You should give them a chance - Skip Greer is a fantastic front man, Klaus Flouride and East Bay Ray are still killing it, and their new drummer, (following the tragic death of D.H. Peligro) Santi Guardiola is tremendous. I agree that Jello Biafra was a huge part in what made them what they were, but you'd be denying yourself a fantastic night out if you chose not to see them on the basis that they aren't the original Dead Kennedys... imho.

It's not that cut and dry..or bland for that matter. What I gather from "fresh fruit..." is a an anarchist' cookbook for fear all for the pure humour of it; and behind all this strings a brilliant album of tongue in cheek political satire, brilliant fucking album.

They had a hit in 1990 with a song called "Epic." Their Frontman has also been in other bands like Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom and a few others. Search wikipedia for Faith No More.
