When the arcade closed, I realized that it was ending. It's sad, since I spent most of my childhood with those stores being my end-all stop for things. Now it's empty except on the holidays. Feels bad, man.

I think that the closing of the video arcade sealed the deal. I always have a soft spot for video arcades. Especially from 1970s, 1980s, and even the 1990s. 😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭

I’m from Kenosha, WI originally. This mall was my childhood in the 90s. The waterfall in the middle of the mall….they had, IMO, one of the best Chinese restaurants in it. The old corn dog stand with the best fresh lemonade. Funcoland, EB Games. And afterwards, we would go to Toys R Us right next door. It’s sad seeing it this way….so many many many great memories there….

I have worked and shopped in this mall for decades! Worked in a RadioShack there in 2003. As a kid in the 90s, Riding up what used to a single laned greenbay road, driving past the old farmer markets by KR. Something I will say doomed this mall from the beginning was the fact that many of todays "anchors" that still exist never had a home in the mall. Best buy was across the street, curcuit city too. Toys R us was also stand alone, just a building or two away. Not to mention food options were better outside the mall, than inside. By the late 90s the writing was already everywhere. Yet to this day the mall still stands!

Regency Mall was great all the way up until 2008. I worked here as an sales associate at a Cellphone store from 2006 and 2007 When I moved up to a lead position I made my booth the #1 selling location out of 500 stores nationwide. The decrease came from management control who always said that they did not want to hire people from the community of Racine and instead hired from outside. Over time companies found it hard to find experienced workers and to make things worse the economic crash of 2008 made regency mall the way it is today. People up until today have not recovered from the affect of the crash and instead of treating themselves have to struggle to pay for household bills

Was just here on Saturday Both Boston store and sears are closed A sure sign it is struggling is when odd ball stores go into what had major tenant spots Supposedly a developer has brought it to try to revitalize it

This. My family moved to Racine in 1978 and it definitely wasn't there yet. I can still recall the grand opening jingles on the local TV stations "Now everything is closer to home....Regency Mall!" Up until that point everyone made the trek up to Southridge. Maybe Mayfair for the novelty of the ice rink.

When I was in a school job program, we went on a weekly field trip to the mall there was always a new store open where an old one just started the week before and the next week later one or a couple of the stores that just opened were empty and vacant. Sad. Even in my childhood this mall was a bit slowed in traffic but it is getting worse. :(

I wish someone had pictures of the original layout. This mall was great back in the 80s. Hot Sams (when it was real), Hickory Farms and Chick Fil A gave out great samples everyday, Aladdins Castle , Kay Bee Toys, Spencer Gifts, it was awesome. I lived across the street and went there all the time with family and friends. Used to have York Steak house in there and you could get a steak dinner for $2.99 and it was legit. Sorry to see those days gone. If anyone has picks or video of the original mall please post them.

I worked at this mall and hung out there for many years. I feel privileged (in a very odd way) to have worked in a mall in its hey day. I think I worked there off and on from 1994-2000. We used to have birthday parties at the arcade. They were awesome. Private parties, unlimited tokens. We went to that arcade right up until it closed. They had a travel agency across from a Hot Sam’s pretzels. Right near where the closed Subway was. I think the most recent closures, or soon to be, are Lane Bryant and Gymboree.

As a general comment to all these mall videos (which are great BTW), in many cases a lot of the dead malls seem to have turned the corner in a bad way around 2008. While online shopping certainly has played a part in the decline of malls, I wonder how much of the decline is because we've never really recovered from the Great Recession of 2008.

The closing of AMC had nothing to do with causing Racine's down turn. AMC was located in Kenosha. Converted to a Chrysler plant and maintained a large portion of the workforce into the 80s (laying off almost 6k people in 1988 (75% of staff)). Racine made some interesting investments and changes in the 80s and 90s that set them up for this failure. Racine has a present day example of this as well! FOXCONN. Kenosha was able to move past the AMC/Chrysler plant closing no different than Brass or other large shut downs in the area. Racine and Kenosha are based RIGHT on a main corridor and easily can make boat loads of money. The cities financial issues stem from bad leaders and decisions. Not a company.

Your camera does a good job of smoothing out the jerks & wobble from walking. At times its like slow moving drone footage. Play around with the settings to stop it losing focus & frame rate. Knock it down to 720. Smooth 720 is alot better than choppy 1080 Turning the camera smoothly will help with frame rates & also adds to the floating feel of the video footage.

Even in there hey day 60-80s it was hard to make a profit with 80% of the stores LOSING MONEY 9 months a year , RENTS were INSANE AND SHOPLIFTERS SOLE $$$$ Millions every day .
